hi i'm planning to build a rig. advice needed. on tight budget, around $700, so i think i'll go for amd.
AMD 620 or 630?
Giga MA785GMT
4GB RAM (2x2GB) : which brand is better?
1TB HDD : hitachi? seagate? WD?
CoolerMaster Elite 310
how many watts PSU should i go for?
i have a HD4850, monitor, speaker, keyboard&mouse & Win7 OS ready alrdy.
how much would that build roughly cost? will it be able to run GTA IV? many thanks.
just curious, 4850 vs 5750, which is better?
cheers.
YAY! AMD FTW :D
GA-MA785GMT + Athlon II X4 620 $311 (630 costs $7 more BTW)
Team Elite 1333MHz CL9 RAM 4GB kit - $162 ( I choose this cause Corbell > Any other distro)
1TB Western Digital Caviar Green Power 64MB Cache - $135
CM Elite 310 $69
Vantec ION2 520W PSU - $79 (Personal recommendation)
Total cost: $756
Will it run GTA IV? No duh. It will run anything you can throw at it and the kitchen sink. Up to 1920x1080, anyway. 4850 or 5750? If you have the 4850, don't bother with any 5700 series cards. How do I know? I have a similar set-up (Similar, but not quite :P)
Phenom II 955 + MSI 785G-E53
4GB Team Xtreem 1600MHz CL7
Powercolor 4850 PCS
2 x 160GB Samsung AID 0, 1 x 160GB Seagate
CM Elite 334
Vantec ION2+ 500W
I've thrown the kitchen sink, the refrigerator and a car at the computer. Will last you quite some time.

thanks for your tips raraken. i got a 955 instead of 620 as i got some extra cash to increase my budget. now my build is somehow similiar to yours. : D and yeah, pretty satisfied with AMD, the only problem now is that the heatsink fan that comes with the cpu is damn annoying loud to me. any heatsink fan you can recommend to me?
Scythe Sflex-G?

Cheap? Cooler Master Hyper 212. About 50 IIRC.
One step up? Xigmatek Dark Knight S-1284. ~75
Honestly, the stock cooler is VERY good for something they provide. It's loud, sure, but it keeps everything nice and cool (Idle temps on my system are lower with the stock cooler).
