Okay, I've been wondering this for a while... A lot of my games (not all) are literally taking hours to install. For example, Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2, etc.
The laptop is a decently fast one, 2.53Ghz Centrino Duo w/ 4GB RAM running Vista Business with another 4GB Readyboost plugged in after i boot up. It makes no sense that installation should take so long at all. HDD has about 60GB left... ,could it be a fragmentation issue?
I was under the impression there was no need to Defrag an NTFS drive.
Just to add to this: CPU usage is hovering around 30-50%
Defrag it. You will still need to defrag the drive, no matter what filesystem it uses. See if that helps.
Or the drive is failing.
I think just the windows vista buisness OS hogs a portion of your RAM already.
If there's an anti-virus app on your computer - it's probably scanning your installer files (eg. ME2 is 14 GB in filesize). Disable it ONLY IF you completely trust the source of your game installers.
The business edition is for BUSINESS uses only. like microsoft office? maybe its not suitable for games. Plus, the games you mentioned need quite high specs.

Vista Business Edition simply means that it has more features than the lower-priced editions, and is in no way inferior to other editions for gaming purposes.
