I want to buy a new graphics card cause mine has burned out. As im using a multimedia desktop, i was thinking of those better graphics card and i had ATI 4770 in mind. But i went to sim lim today and the prices ranges from $105~$189. I was shocked man. I wanted to buy the $105, as it seemed quite low. I asked him if it is the right model and he said yes. (didnt checked box though)
But if i buy the 4770, i'll need a new casing + PSU as my current one is too small. But there is only ONE shop that sells at $105 while others stop selling because of 5770.
Im just needing the card to play some quite-high-graphics games and movies? haha. Not like WOW la. But just above average. Should i get nvidia again? ( cos my spoilt one was nvidia ) or should i try the leading graphics maker, AMD? hahaha.
Besides, the 2010 Intel new processors will have in-built graphics which can support MOST games/movies. Should i just change new processor or buy new graphic card? ):
Actually the price is considered normal, the prices of graphics card has been mostly the same for a few years (to me). If you want to keep to your budget than the best graphics card you can get is Nvidia 9500 series or Ati Radeon R46XX series. It should fit your casing.
And I didn't know WOW graphics is considered high, ok I don't play WOW so I am not to comment but somehow I find WOW graphics just average in today's times.
The new intel processors will require you to change your motherboard (if your processor is Core 2 Quad and below) and the intergrated graphics card is still so so to me but I have never use it so I cannot comment much. Anyway there is no point of buying the new Core iX series processors with intergrated graphics, most of them are dual core and the main point of Core iX series processors is more efficient Quad-Core processors.
Hmm right. Nah, guess ill stick to 4770. haha.
Which shop quoted you $105? I think wrong card leh. If $105 ar, makes no sense to sell other cards like 4670 and 9600GT.
And you will never go wrong with AMD. Nvidia can go suck nuts for all I care (This coming from someone who has been using NVidia almost all his life). I still use NVidia in my laptop, but heck, Imma try get a graphics card upgrade.
Anyway, what's your absolute maximum budget? And your casing that small ah? 4770 is already considered small by todays standards of graphics cards.
Nvidia can stick it up their ass.
ATI is the way to go.
4770's a good choice, but if so-called future proofing is your thing, hit the 5xxx series cards. This way you won't be left out when DX11 games come.
Or you can wait till nV's Fermi comes in and then the prices of ATI cards should drop quite a bit.
ati ftw, hoot 1st talk later

Not everyone has THAT much cash, you know. That's why they come here, ask for our opinions.
Anyway I think shop prices are screwed anyway.

Some 5XXX is about the same as a 4XXX. 5750 ~ 4770 in terms of performance.
.... Eyefinity.. so maxed out ._. too geng for me liao la ):
