Crt monitor not showing

My monitor is going crazy.After using it for about half an hour or so, the screen would turn blank and the lights would keep blinking.The only way is to force off it it but the the problem would still come back after awhile.Tried using other 3 monitors and problem still persists.Im thinking of doing a system restore but im afraid the problem may happen when im doing it. any help is appreciated

Hmm, graphics card problem? Do you have a spare graphics card to test? The card may be overheating, or is just failing due to age. When was the system purchased?

No system hardware specs? difficult to help.
I think use one caveman method to test. on your computer let it run. do stuff and applications as what you do routine. when it happens unplug the monitor for say 15mins to hlaf an hours and pulg back on again all without powering off your computer. if te monitor no problem after its plugged in again most probably it may be monitor. but from what you wrote changed monitor 3x problem may not be monitor issue. i bet highly due to grpahics card. maybe you can try to change the card and see. remember any fresh program, drivers update or hardware addition / changes prior to the problem? if so you can try sys restore just to the date before your updates or upgrade and see if it solves the problem.
power everything down and unplug. remove your graphics card and insert it back. try that to see if it solves the problem. some bad connection sitting may also cause such issue.

My very old system with a GeForce MX440 used to do that, when the GPU was on its last leg.
During gaming, screen would shut off for no apparent reason - the game still responded perfectly, but just that I can't see shit.
Time to contact HP support.
Oh yeah, if you do send that PC in for RMA, be prepared.
HP service centre stinks.
Took me five phone calls and two months to get my laptop back, thanks to a busted GeForce 8400M GS.
Thinking about it, nVidia stinks too.

During gaming, screen would shut off for no apparent reason - the game still responded perfectly, but just that I can't see shit.
Time to contact HP support.
Oh yeah, if you do send that PC in for RMA, be prepared.
HP service centre stinks.
Took me five phone calls and two months to get my laptop back, thanks to a busted GeForce 8400M GS.
Thinking about it, nVidia stinks too.

Just bought doesn't mean won't fail right? My Compaq desktop's HDD failed after 2 months. Took forever for HP to come to my house to repair it (3-year Onsite) that I just screwed the warranty and repaired it myself.
Anyway, what you can do is:
Boot up the computer
Go to the BIOS
Switch the Primary Graphics Adapter to Onboard
Save and exit
Switch off the PC
Switch graphics cable from the graphics card to the one on the motherboard (It may be covered by black plastic, so try and remove it or something)
Boot up
Should solve the problem if it works, but don't try playing any games.

most probably graphic card got problem since 3 monitor all the same.

since ur system is only 4 mths old then i would suggest u return the system back and let the vendor repair for u. it is a hardware failure and not so easy to trouble shoot.

maybe u can backup to dvd. -
I wonder if his computer is integrated onboard graphics? if not and the parts still under warranty better send in for the tech to repair instead. the problem now is how the guy going to boot up and back up his data.

If there's no onboard GFX, like my bedroom PC, then you're screwed.
OK not really.
Just call HP and hope for the best.

Well the monitor would usually turn off in about 30 mins so I think I could back up my data by then.

Apparently my computer now would turn off in like 10 mins so it's impossible for me to backup my data. Anyone got suggestions on how to back it up?

u will have to remove ur harddisk and bring it to your friends to help u to do the backup.
I believe u r using a sata hard drive. remember to bring the sata cable along.
