basic game rig. help pls

  hi guys im building my own basic gaming rig. mobo-msi p45 neo2-fr ram-kingston ddr2 2gb i haven decide on the processor gpu and case.any suggestions? btw im using my old hdd and dvd drive cuz im on uber tight budget. will there be any compatibility issues between mobo and my old hdd? my friend says tat i can get new hdd and use it with my old one in slave mode. what does slave mode mean? thx in advance. ps i'll be playing games like CoH

  Slave mode only applies to IDE. SATA does not. There won't be any incompatibilities if the board has an IDE port, which almost all boards still have.

   

  If you are really on a budget, don't go for P45. Go for a G41 board if you are gonna use Intel, it would be enough. And yes, your budget is preferred, what parts you have and what parts you need, including OS.
