There are instances where it is used to start malicious program. I did make an autorun.inf script that locked up a users computer if an infected thumbdrive was inserted before, and these things are still a threat.
TS, run Security Task Manager. It will show you a complete list of what is actually running, rootkits included, and will also tell you how 'dangerous' that process is. Look for any file with a funny name (Like kjsdhfk.exe or b.exe or something). Also, download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and run it. What AV program are you using?

Use Flash Disinfector:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Flash_Disinfector.exe
Disable services to detect autorun.ini and use a portable hdd to physically replace/delete it.
thank you, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was a great help to me. (:
it is back to normal again.
i'm currently using nod32.
what about this autorun virus mentioned below..
Worm:32/Autorun.VD
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware should be able to do the job. perform a full system scan.

yup, prob solved using the said anti-virus s/w..
had re-formatted all my thumbdrives too..
my MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) detected this Worm:32/Levsha.A but when I clicked apply actions, the status states "not found" or "error" encountered. Even after it prompt me to restart my comp to complete the clean up, it still detected the virus..
used Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to scan but it found nothing, any idea on how to remove this virus completely?
thanks..
It's probably gone and MSE didn't update its own records or something. You may want to run a scan with another AV (eg. Avast) just to be sure.
