My thumbdrive kenna infected by virus after plugging it into one of the instant photo printing machine after developing some photos. Did a scan using my PC and 2 files infected files have been detected and deleted:
(1) F:\autorun.inf (infected with W32/Conficker.worm!inf)
(2) F: ecycler\......\jwgkvsq.vmx (infected with W32/Conficker.worm.gen.a)
I am surprised that even those machines have virus?
Not surprising. Those machines are actually like our normal PCs.
People bring their infected thumbdrives with their photos, stuff to be printed etc. and plug it into the kiosks. Conficker's nature enables it to copy itself onto the computer, and subsequently any removable media that is inserted into the machine.
One way how Conficker spread so rapidly.
Lucky i dont use those machines

Scary.. Why doesn't the owner configure those machines so that it is a “limited account” just like PC? In that way, viruses on removable media won’t get copied onto the PC (due to restricted rights) and hence, infecting those innocent media?
Same goes for printing shops.
Its the exact same theory as Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
Use protection.

There is no condom for Thumbdrive...
Wat are the different protection we can use? 3rd party software to block automatic file xfer to thumbdrive?

Will still affect limited accounts. Limited accounts can still transfer data and files between removable media, only cannot safely remove (IIRC)
They should just install anti-virus on their terminal and delete all the infected files automatically without prompt in the thumbdrive.
It will be a fun sight looking at the user's face when the terminal starts to delete all their precious infected photos.
