i7 or quad core

  which one is more worth getting atm?

  im thinking of getting i7-920 but not sure if quad core would be a better choice

  Just take the Core i7, I'm using it now. Works for gaming and bunch of other stuff, Most importantly it's new.

  Phenom II 955 BE. Simple. Offers very good performance for the price, and easily overclocked by changing the multiplier.

  I quite believe that $200 could be put to better use. Like a beefier graphics card set-up. Like, rather than spending $270 on a HD5770 cos you bought an i7, add about a bit more than $200 and get yourself a HD5870 and a 955BE. That way, you get a lot more FPS.
