I've been getting blue screen of death when i boot my Windows XP .
Boots till the splash screen , gives blue screen & restarts .
I've just bought a Nvidia GeForce 8400GS & a 1gb Kingston DDR2 ram .
Installed into my motherboard , installed graphics card driver and it ran fine .
Until today , it couldnt boot till the desktop so i reformatted it , installed my Graphic card driver and my linksys driver , half way thru , it gave me a blue screen again .
If you need more info i'll be more than glad to provide them .
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
A side note , is the linksys driver thingy compatible with win vista?
Okay an update .
I just found out , when i plugged out my linksys wireless thingy , i could boot into vista
( i reformatted into win vista )
and after i plugged it back in , BLUE SCREEN !
i suppose its the cause ..
but if i dont plug it in , i cant access internet .
I would suggest getting a new WIFI card/dongle. Your current one seems like it really CMI in Vista.

It may not be a problem with the WIFI dongle. I have a friend who encountered this and almost bought a new one. Somehow, his sister's friend managed to fix it. From what I know, he uninstalled the old linksys programs and installed a new one.

But on a fresh install? Quite unlikely.
Anyway, what you can try is to download updated drivers from the website on another PC, transfer to a thumbdrive and try installing those.
plugged out cable, start com until desktop, plug in, play.

He gets a BSOD as long as that thing is plugged in. Plug out, start the com, log in, plug back in and get a BSOD.
Just talked to my friend's sister on this. What happened is that her friend has a modified installation files to the linksys WIFI adapter. Before that, my friend has tried downloading updated drivers from Linksys and the blue screen error still appeared.
Anyway, I got the number to that guy. Unfortunately, he may charge you for fixing this problem since he's an I.T consultant. If you wish to have his contact, you can PM me for it.
