Which mobo? I can't really help if I dunno exact mobo model. Wrong mod can brick the board.
Errr Gateway TBGM01.

Don't. Leave it at 2.66GHz. OEM boards are not meant for overclocking. Your NB heatsink is a little piece of carefully folded aluminium foil. You risk burning the X58 chip if you OC.
Besides, do it wrong and you got a bricked board.
Check this page out http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sis-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=52;t=000004 . I have never tried the ones for AMI, since my previous board was an AWARD BIOS and for that I used Modbin.
Alright thanks but i still need your help on a later date on overclocking my gaming beast.

I remember last time I went one shop got 10+ boxes of R2G mobo, forgot which.

i saw last time. but damn, at that time the cash didn't come yet.
it has to be matx. a midtower won't fit in that shithole of a computer table i have, so the only solution i have is to go matx.
even my current HP casing has only enough space for two of my hands to reach above the casing and slide open the cd holder.

Oh yeah, bro, if you really getting Classified, why still need my help to OC :P Classified meant for those pro leh XD
And 7484P, do you REALLY need the features on the R2G? There are alternatives (And good ones too) like MSI X58M, DFI LanParty JR X58-T3H6.

i need 5 fan ports for sure. :P
i saw the comparison of the DFI vs the ASUS, and well since the ASUS was a winner i very much set my mind on it.
I know the matx boards out there nowadays have a plethora of fan ports, but somehow the R2G's a winner cuz all its fan ports have PWM control. the rest are regular 3 pins. hey, all my fans were stripped from Dells and they all have PWM. :P
besides.. oc-ing just got easier on that asus.
okay i dont know what im saying. all i know is im totally sold on it. xD it is a great, great board.
okay i'll make a logical reply to the above post.
what i actually mean is that the asus suits me perfectly. everything is easy to do, there's this diagnostic plugin screen which makes troubleshooting in POST much easier. it has five fan ports and it can accomodate both LGA775 and LGA1366 coolers.
the MSI? well it can do LGA775 and LGA1366 as well, but it only has five fan ports.
the DFI has freaking 6 fan ports for the win. But only one of them is PWM, like the MSI, and it cant take LGA775 coolers.
so in this aspect, the asus wins. 5 PWM fans and it will accomodate my HyperTX3 cooler. proper LGA1366 coolers like the Hyper212 just wont fit in my case.
so basically i'm just all sold over this fan port and cooler issue.
you could say that i can buy a fan controller, but both my 5.25" drives are occupied. its an matx casing, so i dont have much choice over this. i've enquired at uvnium regarding 3.5" controllers, but they don't support 1.4A fans like my Nidecs. i'm aiming for simplicity here, the more things that i can control via software, the less hardware and cable mess i'll make inside my already cramped casing. ><
