hi all, i'm intending to get a new laptop by december this year. my budget is roughly 1.5k. i want it to have at least 2gb ram, 250gb hdd capacity, 256mb dedicated memory, running on windows 7, not from acer (really bad experience).
using it mainly for uni work, some games, lots of music and videos. is that too much to ask for for a 1.5k budget? i'm quite inexperienced at this so suggestions/personal experiences would be helpful. also tips on where and when to make the purchase.
thanks in advance =)
more than enough

that's quite a good price right, where did you buy it? but the cost of laptops with windows 7 should be significantly more expensive?

mm the HP on you mentioned seems good, but sadly i want one with 14" screen.
btw, "Intel Atom N270/N280 (1.6GHz/1.66GHz)" for the ASUS one you suggested, that's quite slow right? my current on is 1.86GHz and it's quite slow.
Hi tut4nkh4m3n,
You may like to try laptops from Dell. My company uses mostly Dell and so far have been pretty realiable. They have good online deals too:
http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/laptop_deals?c=sg&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anav
Or you could drop by the upcoming Sitex 2009 fair @ Expo (frm 26 to 29 Nov 09) for more options and attractive deals.

Yes, they are slow, but their main focus was on power savings and battery life. Both systems can reach up to 7+ hours batt life.
If you aren't too concerned about battery life, and weight, I can suggest Gateway. They may be owned by Acer, but their quality is quite a bit better than Acer, from what I experienced. Look out for those models ending in G. I saw one, about $1100,
Pentium Dual-core T4300 2.1GHz
GeForce G105M 512MB Dedicated memory
4GB DDR2-800
320GB HDD
14" HD-ready LCD
The rest I can't remember, but has all the basics like webcam, 802.11n WIFI, Bluetooth, etc.
the new macbook is 1.5k..check it out..
personally i prefer fujitsu.
can tahan for long. my desktop fujitsu's, used for 6yrs and still going strong.
i bought my lenovo one from sim lim.
aiya, they got those free upgrade kind of offers de, so dont really need to bother much
