so?
a mac is not a game machine
i'm a mac user
if i want to play games, i would rather get a pc.
only crazy idiots would take a Mac and play games on it. a Mac is specially meant more towards designing stuff and etc..

A mac is not reccommended for gaming.
Why?
The main reason is it's operating system.
Most games are made for the Windows platform.
If you were to get a mac and bootcamp it with Windows 7/Vista.
the incurred costs would be suffice to get a better Laptop.
and it defeats the purpose of getting a mac.
ok i see... coz its a little frustrating as my current desktop is sort of a gaming machine but not a really good one like gigabyte motherboard, c2 duo 2.66ghz and 8500 gt 512mb card and 4gb ram and gta 4 runs like SLOW MO!
i was wondering if i should just chuck it and get a new one... or should i just change some parts?
was enquiring abt the macbook coz my dad is getting one at sitex
Uhh, 8500GT isn't a gaming card.
And the Macbook Pro 13" would give you similar performance. 8500GT ~ 9400M. I guess it runs slow mo due to incorrect graphics settings. Set up your GTA IV like the guy did (He showed you the settings) and see if that improves the gameplay. The Ultimate Graphics Tweak also works, if your graphics card is a low end GPU.

Well you got quite a decent computer, probably you need to update the graphics card & if you want the processor. I have no idea why you gta iv runs that slow, probably the settings are wrong, my specs is almost like you except that I have 2gb of RAM & a 8600 GT 256MB, but I able to get decent framerate of around 30fps. You can try to adjust the graphics settings like adjusting your aspect ratio and resolution correctly & set all the details to medium while the texture quality at high (adjust it according to your computer peformance) and for the slider, I drag all the 4 slider to the lowest except the detail distance (highest) and view distance to an appropriate value. Lastly apply UGT, it should save you a few framerates.
Macbook /(Pro) can be good if you are not into serious gaming but if you are into serious gaming than it is the wrong choice, they are more useful for documents, casual gaming or photos/video editing.
