It should be enough.
iphone although got many gb but cannot use like hdd right?
and thumbdrive transfer speeds cannot be faster than hdd 1
i would be happy if iphone can use as a thumb drive.
i say just get it. u said its what u want... 128GB in really handy sized flash drive. ur probably paying for that exact reason; the convenience of having so much in a small device. so, if u have the cash, just go get it
Just asking ah, the 128GB thumbdrive wat brand ah? If some china brand i dun dare to buy le. I today go "shopping" ah, cyberactive or challenger their thumbdrive maximum onky 16GB leh. I intend to buy sony's 16GB de, cos it can expand up to 3 times the memory. Really have 128GB thumbdrive wor?
Also, can someone tell me what's the typical transfer rate of files from external HDD to computer? How many MB/second? Thx thx.
Cheers
the brand is imation. now my com often lack so i scared my data gone. i saw this 128gb thumbdrive but dunno whether to buy anot so i post lor.
If you really have alot of stuff which you like to carry around with you and they are important to you, why not? As long as you don't mind the slower transfer speed (which i think is still quite fast..)
At least the thumbdrive can take much more physical impacts than a ext. harddisk. I know many people (inc. myself) whom killed our ext. harddisk by accidentally dropping them or knocking on it... zzz
Just make sure your really important and dear stuff are stored in more than one place... Any device can die on you randomly.

Are you kidding me.

If it's just for some document data, I dont see why you need a 128GB thumb drive.
With a price of $120, top it up a little, you can get a external hdd of more than 128GB.
My advice is to get just a 8GB thumb drive (or lesser if u want), and get an external hdd to back up your stuffs, the contents from your thumbdrive. The rest of the free space could just hold your movies, music, photos.

moving stuff around i have a cheapass 4GB thumbdrive i got on offer for $12.90.. well, it was cheap at that time.. don't know how much they cost now..
Same.... mine is 500gb.. not fully used up yet but soon too much entertainment stuffs stored. and im using a 8GB for works. doing occasional backup on lappy and ext hdd.
Price for storage devices just keep dropping like fark.

What you saw was probably a 3.5" HDD. If you had seen a 2.5" HDD with 500GB of storage, you missed out on a very good deal.
Seriously, just get a 2.5" external HDD. They are slim and lightweight. And for $90 you can get at least 250GB (320GB might be possible).
I really, really don't see what the problem is unless if you tell me that you're going to go breakdancing with your external hard disk.
haha, no la, is just that my com now always hang i scared data gone so i must buy a storage soon. finding the cheapest stuff cause i oso no extra to go around

Then just buy the 2.5" drive lah..... problem solved.....
If you want low-cost storage with a reasonable degree of portability, then just go for that....
Seriously, how much more do you want to think?
If you can find a 128 GB thumbdrive anywhere under $300 at this time, it's very, very likely a fake. Confront the seller and challenge him to store and retrieve 100+ GBs of files into the thumbdrive - he would disappear right before you, only to look for his next con victim.

A real one currently cost around 400 USD in the market.

anyway nowadays Imation products not really reliable. i have 2 imation thumbdrives, both broken down before. one of it needs a replacement, and now the replacement thumbdrive also brokedown...
Thumbdrive about 8gb is sufficient to transfer files around... if you need storage, you should go for harddisk.... There is only so many times you can write on a flash mem...

Quick format or complete format? How long has it been since you ran it? Capacity?
