ISP: Starhub
guys, my BB speed is super low though its supposed to be like 8mbps plan..
it can be 1-2mbps when using test sites to measure
i've tried, straightening the cables, and changing the spiltters...but the speed still ranges btw 1-2 to 7-9mbps everynow and then..
same goes to using wireless and cable connected straight to the modem
any advise?
According to someone (Pillow or mayi, I forgot), Starhub broadband is a shared connection, so that BB connection is shared by everyone around that area, that's why. Something like Wireless@SG, anyway. Correct me on this issue, if I'm wrong.

Yes, you are right. Then, there's also location proximity to the central router located in Starhub's technical premises. This means if you are staying further away from the epic-center (think of earthquake), the speed issue is also a factor.
Also, there's other technical factors like proxy, geo-graphical sites... A bit too technical to explain. If you're interested, you can type in google search and find out more about it.
For Starhub, there appears to be some specific timings when it will start to lag. Typically in the evening, when most people are back and start surfing the Net.
sigh...is that really the problem...its quite irritating...
Yup.
Won't suggest changing ISP though... the other two don't fare any better although speeds are pretty much constant.
blehz..
then y sometimes after moving the cables etc, the speed increases? then e next day i try again, then e speed comes down..
the increase in speed or decrease in speed could just be a psychological impression on you that it is indeed going faster .. where it is the same old speed (: - just like the perception that time is going slowly while u are very anxious..
or it could be just luck.. that during the time you adjust the cables.. at that point of time, the speed just happens to increase.
sometimes .. maybe adjusting the cables ect.. does help make the signal stronger.. hmm
its not psychological..
i go to starhub website to test the speed..they have an indicator how much speed i'm dl at..
i using stinkhub too
All i can said it is really stink
Bigtime
ALways dc...
