lappie uses around 85% less energy than a desktop
part of the design criteria of laptops is that they should be able to run as long as possible on battery power For this reason, there are all sorts of technologies that are used with laptops to try and minimise power consumption in other ways (reducing clock speed for less processor intensive applications, putting components to sleep when they have not been used for a while)
mi using a 24inch monitor.. without a CPU actually.. still no money to buy that yet...
No money for 17-inch, so using 14-incher........
.....connected to a 19-inch monitor XD
I keep a desktop around because there are things that laptops just can't do. I see many 17-inchers out there with seriously crappy configs, but cheap. Then there are those with awesome specs, but can say goodbye yo the wallet. Desktops are more powerful, and cheaper to boot. And easier to fix etc. No need send to service centre.

Kind of. If you're not a gamer then it's okay. But for me, I require a 'fast' laptop.
i will not buy a gaming laptop. its not worth the money.

Agreed, that's what desktops are for. I just get a laptop fast enough to play HD movies and some games.

a 17 inch can be bought for a dirt cheap price. depending on the specs, gaming will not be ideal but at least its a good replacement for a desktop for those who want to watch movies, doing documents or graphic designing.
