Just this previous weekend, my netbook Lenovo S10 couldnt boot up.
Following that i brought it to Challenger that afternoon for them to diagnose and repair.
As usual, they mentioned that it will take a few days, so i left my netbook with them.
Having learned a little about computer before and seeing the error message there,
I guessed it could be a HardDisk problem. I got them to check that out.
Few days later, they got back saying that it was a HardDisk problem and that Lenovo will collect and send the Netbook for repair under warranty.
I received a call from Lenovo few days later, saying that they will come our house to collect the Netbook. Meaning we had to collect the Netbook back from Challenger.
So yesterday, my father went to Challenger to collect the Netbook and they required him to pay $64.
Basically, nothing was done, other than check the HardDisk.
The HardDisk will be repaired by Lenovo and not Challenger, so i don't see why should there be a fee.
Though we had to pay no matter what, ultimately they will be the ones losing out.
Thank you all for reading.
i go to Challenger to see what they have..
then i go to other shops to buy..
thing is, other shops invariably sell their stuff cheaper than the "member price"
Challenger is good to go look because they have a lot of stuff.. but they belong to the list of "chop radish" shops..
its amazing how challenger remains in business for so long
a lot of people actually go in there, join and be member, and shop there...
i've only bought a pair of speakers in there because i think they screwed up their pricing for that.. it was $10 cheaper than other shops..
subsequently, when i went in there a month later, the same speakers were $15 up from when i first bought them
mentally challenged reading this.
why do you bring the notebook to challenger?
Since its under warranty you should bring it straight to lenovo.
logic fail
since warranty claim should go through lenova.... why you bring to challenger instead?
challenger charged you for diagnostic of your HDD as you ask them to check it out.
Challenger started out in Far East Plaza, just a small shop selling Macintosh.
use your brain la halo.. got warranty go lenovo straight la...

HardDisk spoilt was just a guess, though it turned out real.
I bring my computer there to solve software and such problems.
If i knew this would happen, i would never have brought my Netbook there.

Since its under warranty, you should bring to lenovo first since its free. If there is anything that Lenovo can't solve than you consider bringing it to challenger or other IT shops
stoopid, u should bring to service centre

Still logic phail.
The hard disk is also under Lenovo's warranty. So you should just bring it down to Lenovo for free diagnosis and repair. They should not charge you a single cent.
Challenger charged you because your warranty is not under them. And so they charged you for diagnosis. How much they want to charge is up to them.
Bottom line is, you just go to whichever company the warranty is under.
woah
ts still tio pawned
forumers no give chance one
challenger lies.
i remember they once told me that if i bought a hp desktop pc from them, and asked them to modify it, they are authorised to 'reseal the pc under hp warranty'
which, obviously, is a lie.

this thread could just be a flase story in the first place!
doesn't look like it is.
..........Bottom line: Challenger is for window shopping only.
Under warranty, go straight to Lenovo, not any other shop because
1. Under warranty, no need pay
2. Some shops may void warranty, or worse, "downgrade" the com without permission (a.k.a kope stuff from your PC)
Thing about Challenger is that they are at major shopping centres, so easy access. They sell stuff Courts, HN don't sell. People also don't want to kena cheated by those shops they not familiar with. Of course, they instead kena overcharged by Challenger :P
We all need to learn sometime, it just matters when, and how. Let this be a lesson to TS lor.
When you sent the netbook back to Challenger for them to "Check", did you ask them if there would be any costs incurred to you? It's best not to presume that it's free, and just leave your netbook there for them to check.

But why did they charge full fee if they didnt do much?

why you didn't ask them this question?

I had not engaged their services to know about it. What i do know is, service charges are quite common even if there is no fault with your netbook. If there is, an additional charge will be added if they had tried to rectify the problem.
