Am now having a bad experience with HP service center. Lappy send in for more than 17 days and still no replies from them...
Beware if you are a HP user.
IMO, always go for extended warranty. They can come to your house, depending on the warranty service, and fix it there. Or get a no frills laptop that has the least components so there's less components to spoil.
i had that experience too.
the CS sucks
Sent 2 Laptops personally down to HP Sv center @ Alexandra technopark ( can't be bothered to send in via singpost, waiting time will be longer)
Always get this reply - "3-5 working days".
Turned out - 2 weeks+ for the first 1 i sent in (reason : no parts)
- 1 week for the 2nd laptop i sent. this time i call them twice to complain (as i urgently needed the laptop. After quite sometime finally managed to speak to the Engineer in-charged of fixing my laptop, he say no parts, will take 1 week. After, insisting and telling him how urgent i need it, he said he would "Air flown" my hard disk from overseas. True enough, the next day, they told me it's ready for collection. They sent my laptop back the following day )
ps: 1 out of 2 Hp laptops now has a failed mobo. (not worth fixing). since it's out of warranty
HP service and products suck big time these days.
Their standard drop!
lousy lousy
Heard they change management that is why we experience this from them

Second to that. I have a sony laptop with a spoilt key on the keyboard. Went to service centre at ngee ann city. though I know it's classified as external parts, they replaced it FOC on the spot
that time i sent my VAIO down for repair due to the faulty DVD Drive, they also found out that the lappie had a unusable USB port, and fixed that as well.

Well, it's pretty common that most (or rather all manufacturers will do tests ) of the PC/laptop after fixing to check for other problems. (hard disk, ram, usb, i/o interface...) before they return to the owners.
One thing that impressed me was them replacing the lcd screen for me on a separate occasion. I specifically told HP that i had dead pixles, but did they change? - just a lousy smuged cleaning job.
I sent my laptop to HP service centre 3 times.
now these 3 TIMES, within a day, i can collect my lappy already. so its not that bad
AND... their service centre is freaking awesome, free coffee and snacks. ( not that im kiasu or anything. its just that the service is real good)
I suppose these 3 times are due to issues that you have stated in the other thread - hibernation. and no parts were changed.
