hi all,
need some advice here, i am looking for a decent 32" LCD TV, to double up as a PC Monitor too, so that i can watch shows from PPS. At present, i hook it up to a SHARP LCD TV, LC-32AX3M, which is not offering a very good resolution, http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/home_av/tvs/0,39037586,39097504p,00.htm
wat specs or areas shld i be looking into, and wat are the minimum, acceptable values tht i shld be paying attention to, when sourcing for a 32LCD TV, for the above requirement?
thks in advance
I don't have very good knowledge about displays
I think there is a difference in HD ready and Full HD
I think HD ready only offer 1280x720p for HD, while Full HD offers 1920x1080
contrast ratio etc im not sure what is the diff
If you arewatching using pps, the video are normally not those very clear ones, and even if you output it to the tv, it only stretch the resolution, and it will pixelise
however gaming on a hd tv is diff, becos the game will allow u to turn up the resolution to the max resolution that ur tv can support(of cos if your graphics card is not slow)

Dual monitor set up, all laptop can allow connection of 2 or more display
However mostly the connection for laptop is hdmi or vga, if it is vga, u need to have the input on ur tv
for desktops, the graphics card comes with a few adaptors, like vga, dvi, hdmi, s video etc. My tv is an old tv, but my graphics card have a svideo to the normall 'yellow' plug for tv
i won't advise for a big screen if you are in for gaming.
but if watching drama i think is quite okay..
i tired before
i use a big screen to play dota.. guess what happen so big that i always got 2-3 sec finding my hero..
yes, just to side track abit, i do tried connect this TV to a Acer laptop, travelmate 6292, with a S video, i have no problem watching any format AVI, RMVB, etc. but when i watch PPStream, i have problem displaying it on the TV(and the movie is runnoing on the laptop screen fine). Then i use my HP desktop to connect to the TV, and it shows no problem. I have weak knowledge on how come it fails with my laptop while it runs well with my HP desktop, mayb could be due to weaker graphics from the latop? wld appreicate if someone can answer to my queries.
u need to connect it to ur tv first, and press the function key(normally it is printed on the key "Fn") and a 'display' button(The display button varies from laptop to laptop)
after that u can select which type of dual display u want by holding the fn button and tapping the 'display' button.
You can clone, extend desktop etc etc
from both laptop and desktop, i am using the same connection to the TV. by S Video

My laptop only has vga output.
Is there any converter that can convert the vga output into the yellow/video input into the LCD TV ?
Thanks.
