Singnet internet very slow???

I have a 3mbps plan when come to night is always very very slow = ( at 18 sep 09 time 10:22pm ??? what is happened to singnet broadband.

Probably because of the network congestion at that time?
Also I believe 3MBPS doesn't stand for 3 Megabytes per second, but rather, 3 Megabits per second.
Thats around 3mb / 4 = 700kbps max?

Yup MBPS stands for MegaBits per second not MegaBytes per Second, called Singnet and clarified with them before. Yours is infact quite fast for 3MBPS (how did you get such high upload speed?) and the plan is limited to 370kb/s - 400kb/s download speed.
Calculate download speed, you take your plan (3mbps) x 1024 than divide by 8.
(3 x 1024) / 8 = download speed
Mine also the same 3MBPS plan

what how come your download speed sebei fast? my internet is becoming more and more slower , called the singtel they will sent a techincal over to fix it at 24 sep 2009 but i expect not much because of their poor manage service if they can't fix i switch over to Fix M1 boardband for mega speed .... and they have 24hour service unlike singtel.

THat's right ! MBPS stand for megabits. The problem is not many prople knows about this. They think it's MB.
The ISPs used this fact and over exaggerate it as "superfast" in their adverts and thus misleading the public. This builds up and everyone assume that their internet speed is slow but actually thats what you pays for.
To test your real speed in DOS, follows this:-
Bandwidth Speed Test via DOS ftp
1. From the Windows desktop, go to Start > Run...
2. Type in "cmd" and click on OK button
3. You should see a DOS window appears
4. Type in the command : ftp ftp.singnet.com.sg<ENTER>
5. Type in the user and password as "speedtest<ENTER>" and "speedtest05<ENTER>" respectively
(please take note that you cannot see the password typed)6. Type in the following commands:
bin<ENTER>
hash<ENTER>7. To perform download test, change/list the directory by type in the following commands:
cd speedtest/download<ENTER>
ls<ENTER>8. You should see a list of files as follows:
100meg
10meg
1gig
1meg
500meg
50meg
5meg
which the filenames indicate the file size9. Type in command "get 1meg<ENTER>" to download the 1 megabtye file(you can specify any size also)
10. You should see the download bandwidth result
11. To perform upload test, change the directory by type in the following commands:
cd ../upload<ENTER>
(please take note that the upload test may not work in router setup)12. Type in command "put 1meg<ENTER>" to upload the 1 megabtye file
(please ensure you have downloaded the file first before you perform the upload test)13. You should see the upload bandwidth result
14. Type in command "quit<ENTER>" to exit
15.You have successfully performed the bandwidth speed test.

But your mode is using CMD to connect their sever to do speed test only it's didn't help much at all, but i will like to thanks your help as well.
Today the singnet technician come to fix my problem...
replace few thing due to phone socket which is faulty/ rust resulting disconnection & slow in connection speed.
finally i can enjoy the game i can play without lagging anymore.
