I was running a simulation halfway when an error message came on from
the taskbar tray: ‘Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is
increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. During this
process, memory requests for some applications may be denied. For more
information, see Help.’
The task manager still indicates the simulation is running. Is this
serious? I am worried I may have to restart the simulation which takes
a week to run. I googled for help on the Microsoft website but no
useful info.
My CPU is Xeon quad core 3.2GHZ, 6GB RAM, 64bit windows XP Professional. HDD 80GB free.
Thanks in advance.
Simulation? What simulation are your running? 6 GB should be more than enough, unless you are doing some serious rendering or you are a researcher doing stuff similar to F@H.
Anyway, it shouldn't be too serious, and your simulation shouldn't be affected.
What simulation are you running that Windows could run out of virtual memory?
Just go sys prop - advance tab - performance - settings - advance tab again - "change" - amend the initial size to the same figure as maximum size will do
