Is there a way to make Dell take full responsibility of defective Dell Dimension 9100 they sold me in 2005 for S$2500 ++
This Dimension 9100 desktop computer has started giving problem since
the very beginning, all of sudden it failed to start and giving
intermittent beeping sound with 1-4 light numbers blinking - signifying
RAM/Video card error. I bought 3yrs warranty along with this computer
that allows Dell technician to come and fixed it, another 3 months time
the same problem occurred again - they fixed it again - exactly same
problem keep appearing every after 3 - 4 months. even after Dell
technician replaced the RAM and motherboard - the occurrence persist,
they did change the RAM again. Nearing the end of 3 years warranty
period, Dell offered another year of warranty for free. It was quiet
for quite some time - as I hardly use the machine since I have new HP
computer. Last 14 July 2009 when the free one year warranty period was
about to end - I turned on this Dell Dimension 9100 computer to do
spring cleaning - removing last bit of data from the hard disk - ooops
- the familiar beeping sound appeared again - for the last time the
Dell technician came to fix it on 17 July 2009 and removed the
"suspected" 3rd party video card. He indicated this was the final
service and I have to pay if I need to call him again - sound fair
enough until the next Monday - the beeping sound appear again. I email
Dell to raise my concern and so far no response until today and left me
a big question - why?
Is there any consumer protection against such irresponsible computer maker/seller?
My earlier HP Pavilion computer bought in year 2000 was ok no single
incident -the newest Pavilion bought 2007 was also ok until today -
what was going on with Dell?
