Silly comp keeps restarting randomly... Help?

hi, here's the gist of the problem. i just got an acer aspire one N280 recently, and it works great. only probably is, as my title says, it restarts randomly. sometimes when i'm surfing the web, sometimes when i'm using my word processor, sometimes when there aren't any applications running and i'm not using it at all. anyone has any suggestions as to what is wrong or what i can do? or just send it for a check up?

Any errors before it restarts?
Does the laptop feel very hot? How about the air coming out from the ventilation?

no errors, or maybe restart too fast until i can't see.
laptop shouldn't be too hot, putting it on the fan thing that pasar malam sell to push air out from under the comp.

Can have confirmation on this? If it burns your hands... then it's not good news.
Did you see any blue screen before it restarts? If yes, the restart occurs very fast, usually in a few seconds.

nope, it usually feels very cool. slightly warmer than my hand only.
no blue screen at all. usually, just doing my stuff and bam! see the acer word on the screen showing it restarting =(

Maybe windows update was running at the background, then never inform u and it auto restart??
Did u knock ur laptop previously? maybe the ram was lose and sometimes it just restarts
Laptop is a bit hard to troubleshoot cos u can take it apart like a desktop, best is to bring it to acer for a check

i'm also having this prob with my desktop .
reformatted it . installed vista home premium SP 2 .
problem was and is , whenever i plug in my linksys wireless USB into the USB port ,
the desktop restarts .

de last time my laptop keep restarting itself, de reason was because de fan spoil so it gets super duper hot lols..

Hmm...
Heat doesn't appear to be an issue here. That leaves other hardware and power issue. I suggest you bring to Acer to ask them to check.

sigh, they find here find there cannot find anything wrong aside from the fact that it keep restarting. so they gave me a new one. guess what?

hi ThunderFbolt. U using vista? cause for xp u can use the win xp cd to do repair and the problem will be remedy.

this one netbook, not laptop =) no cd drive. though i did originally ask them for reinstall OS, which still has problem. then replacement netbook, which still has problem.
acer then called me regarding my problem. apparently i'm not the only one with this situation.

Appears to be Acer hardware issues? There's no way a new netbook can still have the same problems.

Well, it's a netbook... running on intel atom. you would expect that the chip would have trouble to process a lot of applications running on background... Try disabling and uninstalling the unneccessary application.
I think it's mostly memory overloaded problem that cause the netbook to restart ba.

hmm... quite weird leh.... new one all the applications are like pre-installed ones, so shouldn't have this kind of problem what.

did u plug your pendrive to it.Could be conficker virus.Read conficker_updates at google groups

Seems like a mainboard problem to me, but do send in your notebook for a checkup at Acer.Fingers crossed and pray that it is still under the warranty.
