How to erase hard disk securely?

  Hi all...

  Am wondering is there any software that I can download that will enable me to secure erase my hard disk?

  Thinking of selling my laptop but is worried about security...

  Any advices?

  then ask the new buyer to buy his own hard disk to install...

  For me, I use a not-so-legal method:

   

  Download OSX, and use their Overwrite with Zeroes selection in the installer, and overwrite with Zeroes about 7 times. Or as much as you like, anyway.

  Download and save tons and tons of porn which will distract anybody checking your hard disk from the school project you saved in there.

  there are many software that can help to erase the hard drive.

  Try to build a bootable thumb drive with DOS installed.

  Then run the software to erase the entire hard drive.

  Download a software, the one use by CIA, to "safely" delete everything, else make sure you do not have videos like Edison C.  then it's okay,  BUT, if you want to SABO your...... then it's also okay : )

  I don't believe your school homework can be more than all the porn out there in cyberspace.

  Buy a new HDD and put it in the laptop.

  Take a drill and drill 1 big circle at the old HDD, then Power it up while the drill is still in there. Good luck not getting glass shards on you XD
