I have 2 HDD. One SATA and one on IDE. the IDE one just suddenly disappeared after i restarted the computer. I have changed the ide cable and checked connection. The HDD still spins but the com (BIOS and windows) just cant detect. Can I assume its something wrong with my Motherboard's IDE connection suddenly spoil? I looked at it and it seems very unlikely it will suddenly, out of the blue spoil leh.. I mean.. its just a connector.. it was working fine for the past year...
any other thing i should check before buying a PCI IDE interface?
There are numerous possibilities. Potential Failure Modes includes: (a) Motherboard (b) Cables (c) Hard Disk IDE (e) X-Files It is quite unlikely that the cable would fail, but guess one would never know. Sometimes, after one or x days and you try again, the IDE Hard Disk may be visible again. If this happen, somewhere between (a) to (e), there maybe this potential problem waiting to erupt again. If you have an external hdd casing, you can perhaps verify if the hdd is working on the external casing, using the same or another computer. cheers, Mr Tan
did u install the marvell drivers for your IDE hard disk? it should be in the cd that comes together with your motherboard.
