Hi all, I spilled some plain water on my work laptop in the office last week. At first I didn't think much of it and just took some tissue to clear the mess. After around 2 mins, I wised up and realised that I had to switch it off immediately. I think it was still too late as I already heard a loud noise(possibly coming from the fans @ full throttle)..
So after I switched it off, I put it at a warmer place to let it dry. The next day, I tried switching it on. There'll will be response from the laptop for a few seconds, and then it will switch off and power up again. This cycle will repeat forever if I don't pull the plug. And of course, the screen is totally blank.
The laptop is a HP NX6115 amd turion model. I'm thinking if I send it to HP, if the mainboard is really fried, the cost of replacing it would be more than what the laptop is currently worth, given its an old model...
So, anyone has compatible spare parts to let go at a low price, or other bright ideas..?
Send it to a computer repair shop; some shops do diagnosis at a low price.
If they say that it's beyond repair, then just buy a new laptop. You can buy a decent 14" laptop from Sim Lim for just under 1k these days.
Amen
does the lappy belongs to you or your coy?
i steamed mine, ^^
the fans? you probably got something shorted out that the fans had to run at full power.

How much water exactly is your some water?
You can disassemble the laptop, use a hair dryer to the dry the parts thoroughly and try switching on again. If your laptop is not more than 2 years old, I think it's still worth repairing for $200-$300.
still got warranty? Go to HP and ask them to repair it. its free.( if still has warranty)
you can try singapore web site http://www.pchub.com
you can buy parts there. else u just let them repair for u.
