Hi,
Would like to check with you people.Recently i have been having intermittent internet connection. It breaks connection like every few minutes but reconnects in seconds.
In my Google chrome bar,it keeps stating resolving proxy or resolving host. But when i try using speedtest.net,i get 8mbps which is my subscribtion speed.
Whenever i try playing games like sudden attack,my ping keeps going up and down.Have scanned the whole computer with Avast,ad-aware and super Antispyware,no virus was found.
What could be my problem?
Anyway,my ISP is singnet.
Anyone can help?
go talk to singnet about it.
are u using mobile broadband?
If u are using 3g, then it is pretty unstable.

call and kpkb.
link as above
A few months back, I experienced the same thing But now quite allright already..No mor disruptions..either they were upgrading the coverage area by area or its just a random disruption of connections..I dunno..like someone said upstairs, go call them kpkb..but not like they will respond to it la..that is also if you can actually get to talk to a (helpful) customer service officer that can speak proper English ba..
I got this problem also recently, it is like after browsing for 5 minutes, suddenly i can't load any website until 1 min later than i able to load again than 5+ mins later, the same thing happen again, I keep getting server not found & other similar pages on IE & Chrome. I tried restarting my modem both manually & via the modem homepage but the problem still exist. I also updated my NIC's firmware.
RvnRooRon84: Ya,i called Singnet up and kbkp. They will send a technician down on thursday to check.Hopefully they can get it done.
SBSTransport: Yes,mine is totally the same problem as you.So how did you manage to solve the problem?
Anyway,is this only happening to Singnet?
Oh ya,what does it mean when google chrome prompts resolving host or resolving proxy?
With my perseverance to press the refresh button thousand times. I thinking of calling Singtel but I think I will call them after trying to browse the net for at least 2 hours. If within this period, the problem still persist, I think have to call them.
Is your router the white one or the silver coloured one?
If yours happens to be the 2701HG-V or one of the newer models, then you are not alone.
The problem lies with the router model, I think. My old router, the 2700 series, didn't keep dropping connection every 10 mins or so, gets really irritating when trying to play TF2.
Complain no use, only temporary solution lah. The internet will be fine for a while, like a month or so, then the problems will resume.
Anyone still experiencing such problems from Singtel? I called them last week and their response was that they sent people down to check on my area and ask me to contact them again if the problem is not fix by this week. Till now I still have slow response though not that bad as compared to last week, should I call them cause I think their next step would probably be asking a technician to come down and check my line which I do not want to pay for so I was wondering is it just me still experiencing the slowness.
I last time complain, then okay for a while, then ever since they changed my router, it's been sh!t. I can't even play on my fave server.
Well it seems that singtel really have some problems recently, HWZ has got a couple of users reporting such problems (Problems loading page, IE cannot display the webpage...) and is it on the newspaper also?
I seriously don't think it my fault here since I using a wired modem so should not have router problems and I tried upgrading and downgrading my NIC from Realtek & my motherboard website yet the problem remains. Yesterday at 11.30pm suddenly the problem comes back and went off at 1am.
Try changing the micro-filter....?
The speedtouch modem, singtel give me comes with a box of 5 micro-filters, I already tried changing all liao but the problem still there. Before typing this post, I spent 20 mins refreshing youtube than manage to get it load.
Hello All,
I see these posts were made in July 09. I'm replying mid-September 09.
I'm having the exact problems you are describing, Jerry2308. I just switched from Starhbub 8mb broadband to Singtel 6mb broadband, due to the better price and deal on my family mobile plan.
The good news is that the actual thru put is significantly better than Starhub. I did some music downloading and a torrent - it went much faster. However, I have exactly the same page resolution problems you are describing. I constantly see the "resolving host" status in Chrome, and frequently have to reload the page.
On the 2wire 2700 series modem/router and my key PC laptops, I've reset everything, checked firmware, changed wireless channels, etc. still same problem. Like you and others, the speedtest goes well, the routers admin status is fine, but the "resolving host" problems remain.
I haven't spent the bucks to try it, but I sure am wondering if a solution like the Aztech ADSL modem router (also officially supported by Singtel) would fix the problem, as maybe the 2wire box is the problem...
resolving host issue is usually tie to the dns server. maybe you can try to use fixed ip of the dns server instead of using the router dns services.
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I tried using the fixed ip on the DNS servers, but it did not change the problems.
I'm wondering about other adjustments to the router like changing the MTS number, or other adjustment...
there is another way to test. u can use opendns. use the ipaddress provided by opendns and fixed it as the dns server ip address to test.
