Hey ppl , i received this message on my other com's screen when i tried to turn on it just now , what should i do?
The message :
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
C:\windows\system32\config\system
You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup CD-Rom. Select "r" at the first screen to start repair.
any1 there? .. lol
Means the file that requires it to boot is damage/missing obviously. Try to do a windows repair or reformat
Like what it says
You haev to get urself an installation disc for windows
If you are running xp you must get a windows xp install disc
Go to the bios and set your first boot device to ur cd rom
after that it will run and tell u welcome to windows xp set up
press enter to install now
then after that u will ask u to choose to repair windows

will my data be gone during this process?
i think By right it wont be gone
Unless u accidently select format C drive, or d drive, and only then your data will be gone

Depends on what you mean by your data.
If your data means:
1. Customized Windows settings
2. Your files
3. Your installed programs
Number 2 & 3 won't be lost, unless something goes wrong with the repair process. I can't recall for Number 1.
If you have a live CD such as Linux or UBCD4Win, try booting up to it, copy all your personal files to a thumbdrive or external hard disk before performing a repair.
Otherwise, if the repair process goes wrong, you will eventually lose everything.
