Hi everyone,
Recently my ethernet cable became very loose in the jack. I'm not sure how to put this but, the plastic flap for it to click into the ethernet jack does not work anymore, probably due to me keep changing the cable from my desktop to my laptop. It is now just in place in the jack, but it can be pulled out without having to press onto the plastic flap. Anyone knows where to buy a new ethernet cable and how much one would cost?
On a side note, after the flap has become loose, I'm getting fluctating internet speeds. Not sure if the cable is related to this. Currently I'm going at 5+ mbps, my plan is 10mbps and just now, I went down to 200kbps. Is this SingNet's problem or is it my cable?
Thanks for your time and assistance!
From ur story, cable seems to be the prob...
Thanks, ---Max---. Anyone knows where to get the cable and how much it would cost?
LAN cables are available at any IT stores including stores like Courts, Harvey Norman, Popular, etc. quite cheap, depending on the length you need.
Yup. The cable is readily available.
5+ mbps is very slow, even 10 mbps is also slow. I am now going at 54 mbps and I still find things slow moving.....
Have you consider overhauling yr package? If you do, make sure that your new cable speed is comparable or faster than the transmission speed.
I don't play much games so 10 is so far okay for me. Hopefully upgrading to wireless internet soon though.
Thanks everyone for your advice!

Hi there,
You need ethernet cable?
I can give you 1 if you need, for free :)
It's okay, thanks. I can get it on my way home from school later.

But the speed feels like it's just 1MB or less. Could it be the ISP's problem now?
The speedtest thing doesn't load here so:
Download: 9.23 mbps
Upload: 0.11 mbps
Ping: 129 ms
mine is like this:

Download means you retrieving data from the internet.
Upload means you sending data to the internet.
All ISP when they say 10 mbps, it means the download stream.
Your connection seems reasonable to me, except your upload is lower than the 1 mbps claimed by Singnet.

Huh?
That's a LAN network's maximum speed, it's not your Internet speed.

LOL at SingNet's score -_- Just shows they suck
And this is becoming an Internet plan Comparison using SpeedTest XD
I remember getting abysmal speeds last time, and still do occasionally.
Speeds of 11Mbps, 54Mbps, 100Mbps, 300Mbps (I think?) and 1000Mbps are all your link speed to your router/Wireless Modem, not your internet plan. They are 802.11 b,g, Ethernet, N-Draft (Or final already?) and Gigabit LAN respectively. It is how fast the info goes from your Local network (or LAN) to your com and vice versa, not to your ISP. Link speed and Internet Plan Speed are 2 different things.
