Hi all,
I've got this problem. When i close the lid on my laptop, it goes on standby mode. When i wanted to use the laptop again, there is no sound coming out.
I check the control panel everything, the bar is a max and mute isnt on. I have to restart my laptop so that everything would work again as per normal.
Btw, i'm using a Packard Bell EasyNote Skype Edition. From windows vista, i downgrade to Windows XP.
Help?
Thanks.
Hmm... sounds weird.
What sound device are you using? Is it a high definition sound device? What's the name of this sound device? Common ones are Creative, Conexant and Realtek.
Where to check the name of the sound device?
But, after I restart the laptop, there is sound. So I guess, does it have problem with the power management or anything?
Not power management. To check the sound device name:
1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
2. Select the Hardware tab.
3. Click on Device Manager.
4. Scroll all the way down to Sound and click on the + sign. It will detail your sound device name.
Is it
SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec?
That should probably be it. I go do some research and get back to you.
Can you check Packard Bell website to see if Sigmatel has any updates on its drivers?
There are a lot of reports on Sigmatel users losing their sound after resuming from standby.
Downloaded the drivers, and installed it too.
The problem is still there.
Sometimes my desktop also like that. And i also will restart it. Yet i found out that by logging off is enough.
