Hi guys.
I've been saving hard for a CPU which is like modified. I personally have a desktop, the specs ain't good, when I play game it lags me without fail.
My budget is around $1000 for a CPU. But I don't know what kind of hardware should I buy.
So I need you guys for the tips.
So, yea ? Any suggestion/tips ?
Thanks in advance.
$700 can't get u far.
i got 2 pc
1 is acer predator and 1 is DIY
my diy cost me 1.1k
2.4ghz C2D, ati HD2400 Pro, 4gb ram. running on a MSI mother board(unsure of model). razer mouse, cyber sniper keyboard, Creative Inspire T3100.
Running on Vista Ultimate.
Monitor i brought a Samsung 22" with an top up of $200 (free bluetooth thingy)
total cost 1.3k
u include mouse as cost of DIY meh?
Razer copperhead blue ftw.
Hmm.. Thanks for the suggestion.
But, If i have a Windows XP CD,keyboard, moniter, and speaker. I don't have to buy them right ?
My friend bought a DIY Computer, he went to Sim Lim, bought all the parts and ask the person to build for him, he took about $500 and the specs were quite good.
I'm thinking if I go to the shop and ask the person to recommend me, would it be better ?
U can get quite good one la but dun expect it to fly .. U may wan to share about 100 or 200 more just in case. I bought mine for about 2k
Quad core 6600 2.8 ghz (i thinkkk sooo)
2gb ram
asus 8800GT 1GB
500gb sata HDD
160gb sata HDD
P5K pro asus mobo
one true power CM PSU
And one CM chasis
All this were bought about 1 yr 2 months back.
Well, thanks for the suggestion.
I'm thinking whether if i take a Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Nvidia Geforce 7+ Series Graphic Card and a 3GB Ram, cause I'm running XP, a 320 GB HDD and other things which I'm not sure. Would I be able to like not exceed my budget ?
Hmm, I think I should take out $300 more to make my budget higher to $1000.
But I don't need a computer that is very extreme gaming.

Get a high end C2D processor (Good enough)
Get HD4870 (Very cheap now)
Just get 4gb ram cos u never know when u wanna go Vista.
HDD wise go 500GB at least. Dirt cheap, mate.
If u are using good graphic make sure u get a good PSU to support.
Hmm, ok. Thanks dude :D
But, I'm deciding to go to Sim Lim to get the DIY Computer and ask them to help me build. Is it Safe there ?
Cause my friend last year go there DIY Computer and ask them build, total $500 then this year, recently, his computer can't start up and got beep sound. Then he saturday going to Sim Lim to check whats wrong, I'm following too.
I'm wondering, cause I seldom go Sim Lim there de, which PC shop you guys can recommend ? Good Price and Service. ^^
BTW, whats HD4870 o-o ?
Actually 7 series graphics card are hard to get now
Q6600 cannot be bought now, it is now replaced by the 45nm Q8200
1k can get u a decent gaming system, but it will not be the fastest.
You can learn how to config your system by looking at the pricelist
Things that you should buy:
Processor + Motherboard
Rams
Graphics Card
Harddisk Drive
Dvd drive
Powersupply
Casing
You can get a E7400 with a P43 motherboard
Ram just get value ram if you are not going for extreme performance
GPU is the headache part, different gpu perform differently, and some requires you to buy a big powersupply
HDD just get the normal 7200rpm ones if you are not those going for high performance
dvd a normal one to suit ur reading/burning
Powersupply must get a true power powersupplyfor gaming systems. One tiip is just to feel the weight of the powersupply. A true power 450w power supply will weigh must heavier than a normal standard rated poower 450w powesupply
Casing is important if you are getting high end stuff, u need to make sure u have good cooling and ventilation

for 1k u can build a mid-level gaming machine already. no worries.
I was planning my specs, just to share.
mobo - Asus P5QL-E, its a P43 chipset
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo 7400(2.8ghz, 3mb L2)
GPU - PowerColour Radeon HD 4850 512mb
Hard disk - 320gb hitachi
Ram - 4gb Kingston DDR2 Hyper-X
ATX and PSU from cooler master, $120 can settle.
ur DVD-ROM up to you. $50 can get a decent one.
Total about $800 max. If u want to reach 1k, go for the high end Core 2 Quad processors, but to be honest, its an overkill. Or get a even more powerful gpu.
Hmm.. ok thanks guys.
Is Nvidia better or ATI ?
for 1k budget, i would go for ATI. geforce is imba only at high end. but thats too expensive. just my opinion though.
Yea, my friend asked me to go for ATI, they say now cheap and ATI not bad.
Tomorrow I going Sim Lim there find.
Thanks guys !

Yea, I like XP better then Vista.
I tried Vista, like very lag and can't play alot of games.
Prefer XP, simple to use.

Maybe getting the DIY computer tomorrow if the price is right :D
Nights people !
nites...
moi can't slp
Hello, I'm back :D
I went there found a reasonable price pc shop, I asked the price of some parts.
Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93 GHz, 3MB L2 $225
4GB Ram $40
ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB $390
Gigabyte MotherBoard $125
Others I never ask, cause I not very sure. Will be going there again soon.
Is the price reasonable ? And I know I need to buy power supply, a 500GB Hard Disk and a DVD+CD Drive. Casing don't need as I'm using my own casing.
I estimate total like $1k or lower.
Any other thing needed ? Like something to cool down the system or what ?
