I've been watching out for 3 brands: Acer, Asus and Lenovo.
I trust Acer cos both my desktop and laptop are from them, and till today they have not crashed nor have any technical faults. My desktop is 6 years old this yr, and my laptop is 5. Pretty reliable brand, and their technical support is pretty good.
As for Asus and Lenovo, I'm not really sure. My friend's asked me to look at HP Mini (also a netbook) that uses SSD (Solid State Drive). He says the SSD is less fragile than a HDD, and also takes less time to boot up the computer.
Any netbook users or anybody can advise and recommend me which netbook is suitable for an average user? Just for internet, work and occasional streaming.

HP Mini & Asus would be my choice - in term of better make and hardware.
My Acer laptop's keypad spoils 6 times in a year before it functions properly.
I got the laptop from my NTU's notebook fair.
Don't buy any netbook for the time being now because the graphic capability of
the netbook still cannot play high definition videos smoothly.
New model with GN40 and in built nvidia graphic cards are going to appear in the
new models very soon probably within 3 months.
Wait a bit even longer, the new models will be equiped with Windows 7 too.
Must see Ts wants to do what with the netbook? Video editing photo editing and ect...
Acer Aspire One D250. But battery not so powerful.
Acer very good? i didn't touch that brand in ages. Cause the first 1 i had has many problems. And the service centre personnel are quite rude.

netbook is not meant for intensive apps anyway
as it says, it's for net surfing mainly
the rest shd be done minimally and w/o high expectations
I'm using MSI Wind U100.
Simple, affordable, highly reliable.
Absolutely no complaints.

Yup.
like i said earlier, i only need it for internet, doing my projects and just basic video and music streaming, all of which doesn't need high end capabilities..
Ya. So have you had any in your mind?

Lol?!
I have an MSI wind U-100 too. Mine came with 2gb ram, and 6 cell battery. I followed the official website to upgrade the bios and overclock it leglly. It could play WoW BC with no problems, though I think it would struggle with WOTLK.
Mine comes with a mechanical HDD so I share the same worries as you, but so far i carried it around, lots shaking, but still works. So I am gaining more confidence in it.
When I got it, I was comparing the 3 brands you mentioned above as well, but price for specs, msi won hands down.
ps: you can only use the overclock feature when its plugged in.
I just bought an Asus Eee PC EPC1000HE from Amazon.com a couple of weeks ago, and thus far, I'm liking it a lot. It doesn't come pre-loaded with bloatware, and unneeded applications (like Windows Live. Ugh!) are easily uninstalled. If feels very solidly built, and the 9+ hour battery life is a definite plus.
The only minor quibbles I have with it are the awkwardly placed and undersized right SHIFT key, and the fact that the power brick gets awfully warm when it's powering the netbook and charging the battery at the same time.

Black.
I say go ASUS. Their netbooks are VERY good quality; the first netbook, the EEE PC 701 was very good, very little problems, durable, the newwer ones, more stylish and still as durable.
As I always say, go for the only netbook in SG now that has true graphics capibilities: The N10Jc-A2 with both integrated GMA 950 and dedicated 9300M GS so you get the best of both worlds when you need it. Yoc can OC the CPU to about 2GHz, 2.2GHz quite easily.
Or wait for the Lenovo Ideapad S12. However that uses integrated graphics, though it is the NVidia 9400M GS chip instead of the GMA 950/GN40 chips from Intel. You can play COD 4/CoD:WaW/L4D/Whatever game that isn't too taxing. Hell, you can even play Crysis! (Not advisable for the safety and prolonged life of your netbook)
Acer products are no longer as reliable these days... I suggest you look at others.
MSI is currently good enough for all the requirements that you state. But the quality of video is debatable. Maybe because screen a bit small... Stream music is OK.
Netbook ?
get ZZ man!

The whole point of the netbook is to allow for simple tasks while on the go.
I myself got the MSI for nothing more than writing reports, checking emails, and other low-key stuff while on the go. If I want to do heavy-duty stuff, I use my zhnged-up PC at home.
Netbooks were never meant for watching high-quality videos or playing high-end computer games to begin with.
