Hi all....
I'm currently looking at purchasing a new notebook. However I cannot decide on which model of Fujitsu to buy. Are there any recommendations? I am looking at a portable one as I have to travel with it daily.
Thanx,
Starletz
The most expensive is the most portable one. Because the lightest one for mobility also happens to be the most expensive one.
Hmm... that I know but I think the price is too ex. Perhaps range not more than 2.3 k?
Anything below 1.5kg should be quite portable already. I have a netbook which weighs in at 1.3kg, thanks to the fat 6 cell battery. I find it a hassle at times.
Hi ditzy,
what's the model that you bought?

I bought a netbook, not a notebook. No power one, don't expect magic out of it. Cost me 745 bucks, with legal overclocking. MSI U100.
oh ok...hmmm... A friend thought L1010 was nice coz it's with colours and all... but the weight is approx. 2.5kg. Anyone using this notebook? Or S6420? any one know which is betteR?
Wah, 2.5kg is like lugging half a bag of rice around.
Yah that was what i thought too. My current lappie is Dell and weighs approx. 2.7kg.
Everytime I leave my house with it i feel like dumping it into the bin after an hr. haha... but of coz that's just a random thought. So now I'm looking at the weight.
Btw, Dell sucks. less than 2 years and it's giving enough problems to avoid buying from the company again.
from my experience in poly fujitsu always alot problems :p
izzit?!!! wat sort? then toshiba better? I had a toshiba protege before this dell and used it when overseas for 5 years. that was good. light and durable. then it was 3+k and the beginning of wireless modem. now I totally lost touch. dunno what to look out for.
my class it self gt fujitsu users experiencing problems such as:
-wifi not workiing at all even though brand new
-motherboard problems
- and screen no display output even though cpu on
toshiba im nt sure. lenovo thinkpad or acer aspire 4937g good.
jialat. now got more headaches liaoz....

I can tell you, any model they sell at poly fairs is good, except maybe for the Lenovo models, since my friend's Lenovo abit sot. My 4937G works excellent, though the webcam cannot run at 720P very well, and the touch controls/fingerprint sensor disconnects every now and then. Also, overclocks like a charm (DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!).
Though I guess you could use a netbook, since not many laptops are 1.5KG and below.
My 4937G is like, 2.2kg WITHOUT charger, add in my homework, my whatever, etc etc. and then you feel like you don't wanna bring it to school
If you want a Netbook, I still recommend, and always will, the ASUS N10Jc-A2. Its the most powerful netbook you can get in SG now, until they bring in the Lenovo S12 netbook. Overclocks to 2.4GHz, as I read on the internet, but usually only around 2GHz Overclock. It has discrete graphics (9300M GS), switchable graphics for when you need it, Vista, HDMI, 320GB HDD etc etc.
If you want a notebook, you could try Acer Aspire TIMELINE series, they are thin, light, but, Not very powerful at 1.4GHz Dual or Single core.
heehee.... now I have another qns. I'm quite a retard with IT . what is a netbook? what's the difference between netbook and notebook?

A question I find hard to answer, simply because there are many that blur the lines, but this is my take:
A netbook is a portable computer, generally at or less than, 10 inches of screen size, with enough processing power for surfing the net.
A notebook is a bigger, more powerful portable computer, generally 14 inches or bigger, with a modern dual core CPU, advanced graphics and a full size keyboard.
A desktop replacement is a notebook, usually 17 inches and bigger, packing a HD (1920x1080) screen, full size keyboard+numpad, excellent speakers, powerful CPUs (Generally Quad-core), Mid-to-High end GPUs etc.
Then there are subnotebooks, which are in between notebooks and netbooks. 11-13 inches, but usually pack a dual core CPU and advanced graphics (In comparison with netbooks, of course)
Some computers blur the line, like the ASUS N10Jc, and the Lenovo Ideapad S12. These pack the Atom processors, used for nettops and netbooks, but possess superior graphics capabilities to even some notebooks.
Oh ok. thanx for the explanation.
then I'm quite sure I'm looking for a notebook that's ard 14 incher coz i dun have other comps as backups. only one system for all my work, games, music and internet surfing. so comp cannot be too small. hehe...

Do take note not all notebooks feature advanced graphics (Read: Intel graphics)
been using a Fujitsu Tablet for 3.5 years already with no problems (except it gets hot really fast, fan spoilt). Dropped a couple of times too and still fine (dun recommend you drop it just in case). I would still get Fujitsu for my next lappy.
