Any advise on a new computer?

I want to get a new computer for playing Second Life. I don't mind if its second hand, as long as it meets the recommended system requirements for playing SL. How much will the computer cost? http://secondlife.com/support/sysreqs.php

Desktop, with OS. Can Vista play most games? Coz I want to play Halo 2 as well.

Okay, I say, $600? First Hand, with OS, Excellent dual-core CPU, Good Graphics card, casing, 500GB HDD with Vista Home Premium, though you have to build it yourself, but that shouldn't be too hard, right?

Now, this is more than enough for ANYTHING. If you want a cheaper alternative, switch the GPU, though I don't recommend that. 2nd hand computers are usually P3/P4 machines with integrated/old GPUs, so I wouldn't recommend them, though you can search around. Also, parts were chosen based on reliability, cost and performance.If you think this looks familiar, yes, this was modified from a base system I use, though I'm planning to change it around here and there. -
I have no experience. Where can I get all the things? I just need the computer to play games. =D And how do I start building it?

You could ask the people to assemble for you, at a cost. I recommend going to Fuwell, Best Bargain (I think, but can't remember properly XP) and Bell Systems. They have nice services and people, and usually where I go to for my components. I recommend you assemble it yourself, but yes, you could ask them to build it for you. I could, as well, if you got the components, but, I'm not too fond of this option XP

If i were you, i will nt buy the OS
use the money to get a cpu cooler, or get a big and nice casing
Actually another way is not to get the black edition,it is abit more expensive , just get the normal one
if you really want to save a few bucks more, can just get the hitachi hdds
, but i will pay abit more for the seagate -
If I don't buy the OS, where do I get a OS? Is the cpu cooler a must if I want to use the computer for a long time? Like using it for about 18 hours a day.

you can get them at simlim square, if you are afraid, better go to bigger shops like fuwell, bell etc
if you wan cheap, have to source around, or you can go to some shops that does not have gst

CM Centurion 5= $79
OS i will borrow from friendaround $712w/o OS, with os = $881 if the gecube have stock, it will cost $680, with os=$849
If you really want to cut down your cost even by a dollar you can get sth like the above(might be abit slower than the one raraken quoted)

The processor itself comes with a cpu cooler, however if you want something nice and big, you can buy a after market cpu coolerThere are many ways to get the os lah, if you are those who support original then buy lor

Actually I don't support originals. =D But last time I tried to download Windows XP for Parallels I discovered the serial number can only be used for a few copies. And I think I'll save more and get the stuff Raraken recommended. Last time I play SL on my Mac I kept lagging. -_- Btw, if I'm only going to get the parts 3 to 4 months from now, will the parts mentioned still be good for gaming?

Dun ever go to bell systems. Fuwell will be a better choice. I experienced BAD attitude service from bell last few months. Nonsense shop

I did take a look around bellsystem shop. I didn't intend to buy anything yet just looking around. And they welcome me with a good afternoon and showing me around. Explaining things to me. Even before i bought anything from there i already feel welcomed. Lol. So i think ima go there when i want to buy something.
