Recently i have the urge to change motherboard... And do you think the it show sells the motherboard only? If possible can you tell me what booth and level its located at? Obviously not now but just to have an early planing. I need a motherboard which has PCI -E 2.0
Maybe a DDR3 Slot...
Well, last time, I always go IT shows, its always prebuilt computers, not the components, except maybe GPU one lah. Like maybe XFX booth or ASUS booth. CPU in question? And whens the next IT show anyway?
Next it show is in this coming june. The list is stickied. Hopefully someone can tell me whether they sell it anot.
PC Show? Probably they do; last time I went there, they were selling everything: RAM, mobo, pre-builts (Regret buying one lor), Graphic cards, printers, everything.
Lol Hopefully $250 is enough

New, good quality mobo, $250 sure enough. I think enough to buy enthusiast level mobo
What other specs on the motherboard to look for?

Things to look out for:
-Socket (Obviously)
-DIMM slots (Both type and amount)
-Connectivity (On rear I/O panel)
-Connectivity (Type of Slots (PCI-E, PCI, AGP and shit), internal connectors like SATA, IDE, Floppy, front panel USB etc.)
-Size ( Ya don't want a full size ATX mobo in a micro-ATX case, now would ya?)
-Chipset (Don't go for budget chipsets, like 630i, 730i (Unless your GPU not as fast as a 9300, of course), G31. This, assuming you have an Intel, not an AMD CPU)
And layout. Choose a board that has a nice, evenly spaced layout, all the connectors having their own 'section' (I don't know how to describe this).
Good mobo:
SATA ports facing forward, rather than side (90 degrees from the board) <- usually in high end systems, 4+ ports
1 PCI-E X16 2.0 slot (Budget system) or 2 PCI-E X16 2.0 slots (May run at x8/x8)
2 PCI-E x1 or larger (Usually up to x4)
2 PCI slots
4 DIMM slots, dual channel
I prefer mATX boards, but full size ATX boards have more connectivity options, usually.
Hey thanks alot. But buying a motherboard and using a quad core processor? the Q6600 i think.
