1) a good mATX mobo, accepts core-i7 cpu's.
2) core-i7 cpu of the highest factory clock speed as of now.
3) the most powerful ati radeon hd4850, single slot, if there is such. if there's such thing as a single slot 4870, do let me know too.
4) a place where i can get a asus xonar d2 soundcard for the best price
5) ram thats compatible w/ the i-7 cpu.. is 1366mhz the fastest now?
6) 500gb hdd.
7) bluray + hd dvd combodrive.
8) psu that will run all this stuff.
anyone got any idea whats the best price for all this?
if not..
alternative would be, the specs of the HP m9698d, complete with matx mobo. specs dun have to be exactly the same, but at least on par, (eg hdd capacity, ram speed and amount).
anyone who can hlp pls give me the best price available for both alternatives thx.
Questions 6,7 and 8 all @ sim lim got sell...Not quite sure about price.

Some pricing....
k thankies..
hw many watts do u recommend for all that? i was thinking 750, but with all those fans? does it actually affect it a lot?
Just take very high to be sure. Voltage will be needed in future =)
okie.
cooling, what dyou recommend for cpu? i dont plan on using stock coolers.
Okay
Bad news is that all the x58s mobo that support i7 are all ATX for now, there are news that MSI is coming out with mATX that supports i7, but whether corbell is going to bring it in will depends on the market's responds
Fastest ram can go to 2000++ mhz, that is the corsair dominator
The Core i7 onli works with x58 mobo, and x58 onli works with DDR3
Single slot dun have for the card unless u go for water cooling
U can get the coolermaster V10 cpu cooler, comes with the thermal electric thingy, but might not fit into your hp case, as im afriad it will hit the psu mounted on the top
PSU at least need 650w to be safe

Actually, the RAMPAGE II GENE mobo from, EVGA or ASUS? Its actually the first X58 Micro-ATX mobo out.
CPU-wise, get the 920. The 965 and the future 975 are a waste of money. Like, $300+ to upgrade from a 920 to the 940 or 950.
GPU-wise, don't get 4870 or 4850. Get 2 4770s (if you can find them, anyway). Their CrossFireX performance is much higher than a single 4890, and they cost less, to boot.
But if you looking for Single-slot, then almost all 4850s will fit.
RAM: Kingston DDR3-1333 should do the trick, or if Cash isn't a problem, Go with Corsair DOMINATOR series.
HDD, CD/DVD/BD/HD DVD all can find very easily.
PSU: Again, if cash is not an issue, go with a Cooler Master or Corsair PSU, at least 700W to leave some leeway for any future upgrades.
CPU cooling, look up for MPTs recommendations.
Oh yeah, I saw the ASUS Rampage II GENE at Bell Systems on the 5th floor of SLS. Only store I saw to stock it.
I don't think you need the Xonar D2 on this mobo. It has the SupremeFX X-Fi chip on board, that's good enough, right?
Raraken, I will probably need your help on building a gaming desktop. But not now...maybe next quarter of the year

Asus is either by banleong or avertek
i tink not many store cos not many buy them?
ya the 4850s are single slot, i didnt specify that the 4870 dun come in single slot(not that i know of)
CPU wise, like raraken said, 920 is enough. Even if given enough money, i will upgrade to 940 at most
Are you going to overclock the i7?
I have no experience in overclocking i7s, but i heard that because the x58 uses the onboard memory controller thing, your ram and cpu voltage or fsb must be the same or sth like that
GPU wise, the 4770 is good choice, not expensive also.
Harddisk drive will be easy to choose, for a slightly better performance, get the seagate 500gb with 32mb cache. It should be faster than the normal 16 mb ones out there.
But please change your casing lah
THe core 4770 should be running abit hot, so it is importtant to have many airflow
If you are getting, or u can only get the asus rampage, it comes with a reasonably good sound. And you need good speakers. Please buy the Sonic gear spectra 300 with 4inch mega woofer that will blow you away
PSUs are important, apart from CM and corsair, you can consider brands like thermaltake, Antec, gigabyte. OCz is also good
Rams, other than kingston u can consider team elite or ocz. I might change my ddr2 to the team elite ddr3 soon
GOod information
any idea which shops are selling these motherboards? (Asus Striker II NSE/Extreme) trying to search for these 2. want them for their superb performance. SLI + Overclocking + DDR3 (w/o Core i7, just put a C2Q)
Try the price guides for that. On my last visit to SLS, I only saw the P5 mobos and the Rampage II Extreme/GENE mobos. And that was quite recent, ~late last week.
