what does the 2 cpu mean? does it mean i got 2 2.8 ghz processors, or 2 processors that add up to 2.8 ghz? i got the info from dxdiag. thanks
another question. if my graphic card doesnt support TNL but my game requires TNL, will it still run?
and if my graphic card is weaker than the requirements for my game, can i still run it?
wanna play a game that requires Nvidia MX440 64MB and above graphics but my graphic card is 82865G.
for some reason my desktop is using that integrated graphic card.
thanks
btw can i just install a graphics card into my cpu if my graphics is lacking? is there anything i shld look out for like incompatible parts or what not?
1. Not exactly count like that. Core 2 duo processor is physically one processor, but inside the processor there are 2 cores. Depending on the application, some only uses one core(or they call thread). Some share the load between the two cores
2. TNL should be texture and lighting. It might be able to run, but the graphics may not turn out to be proper.
It also depends on how weak is weaker. If it is reallly weaker, the technology on that card might not be compatable with the game. Eg. You are running windows vista. The game uses Direct X 10. However you are using a very old card that can only support direct x 9. You might not be able to play the game
Your game requires Nvidia geforce 4 MX440. That is actually a very old graphics card. It runs on AGP 8X( will explain tht later). Integrated Graphics card is actually onboard graphics. On board graphics only supply you with the 'minimun stuff' needed to display simple objects like ms word and very simple games. So if u are playing 3d games, the onboard graphics may still be able to run them, but it lose out in the speed
3. Depends.
No. WHY? You need to know what graphics card u want to install first. Before that, you need to know that there is a slot on the motherboard that allows you to plug in graphics card. As tech changes, the design of the type of slot change. AGP is the name of the slot on your motherboard. AGP is an old technology. This means that if you are using the old slot design, the newer graphics card you bought will not fit in.
Yes. WHY? You know that your motherboard's graphics card's slot type. For example you are using AGP 8X. You go to the shop and ask for an AGP card with reasonable performance. If they still have stock, you can use it.
Note: Some higher end cards, even from the AGP era, may needs a power connector to power it.
Look at your processor number.
so what does the 2 cpu mean? and how do i check how many cores i have?
2 cpu means 2 processing units in ur comp. HOwever, it would normally be onli ONE Physical processor, but inside there is 2 cores
It could be Dualcore or core 2 duo. Both are the same thing, one processor, 2 cores. Only core 2 duo is faster
Pentium 4 with HT, am I right? With Intel 865G Chipset? You need an AGP card, I have a desktop, 865 Series chipset, P4 2.8GHz HT, mPGA478. It has an AGP slot, though there's nothing on that slot as of yet.
Old Intel integrated graphics seriously are underpowered. Your CPU still did much of the processing work. You seriously need a real GPU. Yes, ask any com shop owner for an AGP card, but try not to get any from the GeForce FX cards. Got one, and really hated it. Couldn't even run BF2. I saw some 7600GS AGP cards at Challenger lately. You can go buy them. Should be the most powerful AGP cards STILL on the market. The 7800 series AGP are all sold out, the last time I checked. That, or the shop keepers are hiding them for some reason.
If you find a PCI version of, say, the 8400 GS or 8500 GT, then get them. They are like the most powerful cards you can find that can fit in your system, seeing as you don't have any PCI-E slots.
EDIT: Forgot about the AGP ATi HD3850, but you will need an extra power connector.
