OT: You can't put 3 GTX295s in SLi.
nv discrete i think.
my hp dv2000 is centrino, but has nv discrete.
what is discrete?
hmm, my laptop not lag, but kind of slow in everything.
esp the start-up
lol? Aiya...you should be thankful that it didn't hang...
but a brand new com shouldnt be like this leh, somemore, the spec kinda good
This is a china brand. bought over IBM.
ya

Discrete graphics, is the Graphics card is seperated from the mobo. They have their own memory, no need to use system RAM. Integrated, is built into the chipset. They only have very little memory, usually 8MB of their own. The rest they 'kope' from your RAM. That's why, if you have say 3GB of RAM, you cannot use all of it, since your Integrated GPU is using it a framebuffer.
Examples:
Integrated: Intel GMA950, X3000, X3100, X4500M ,X4500MHD etc., AMD HD3200, Xpress 1200/1250, NVidia 8200,
Discrete: ATi HD3470, HD4560, HD2400, Nvidia 9300, 9500, G105M (Mine yay), and so on.
As for the laggy-ness, please defrag your com, check for background processes. Try use 64-bit Vista so all 4GB of RAM is used.

At least IBM engineers also still inside. Mine is Acer. Acer puts a bunch of things into a casing and calls it a laptop, but a very fast laptop.
Mine also starts to lag, but I know it's because I put in a hell load of junk inside. GTA IV, Saints Row 2, everything is inside.
Centrino2
Core2 Duo T8600 -2.4ghz
256mb dedicated chrome 430 ULP graphics
4gb ddr3. (no typo)
I hate them Lenovo pointers....... Damn irritating
not bad, quite good for this price, but lenovo is IBM ....

Your laptop? From benchmarking, you might as well stick with the X4500M/HD. . Yes, S3 Chrome graphics suck that bad.
Aiya next time build your own labtop easy bah....

You seem to have a very good laptop then?
If you intend to laugh at other forumers and flame their laptop specs, then this thread is not for you.
X4500M/HD does not have dedicated graphics, it uses shared graphics. As compared to a dedicated 256MB chrome itself has lost.
I can assure you, the s3 chrome is able to play graphics intense games, with no problem. On the other hand, the X4500M/HD is not it lags.
Oh, if you were wondering?
That's just my laptop used for school.
I have another Nvdia equipped laptop. I did comparisons with it and it is similar or it exceeds in performance.

My intention here is not to brag. My laptop itself sucks, but I am stating facts from benchmarks done.
The S3 is on par with the X4500M/HD, which it self is somewhere close to the 8400M G from Nvidia. I myself perform these benchmarks using friends who are willing to lend me their laptops for the same purpose. Equal test bed, to the point I underclock the CPU's in question.
And the X4500M/HD does have a very little amount of dedicated memory, around 8MB, for its own operations, BIOS etc. Same goes for any IGP.
kk don fight here guys....just be happy that both of you are smart about computers
Yeah, hopefully, this won't turn out like what happens in the bus forums. Flame wars every week. Sorry if there were any misunderstandings what so ever, I'm just a teen who likes to bench stuff.
kk lets end....
