Recently, I installed the IE 8.
The first thing that I notice is the fonts becomes smaller.
Days later, my Mcafee Internet Security was hacked by someone.
Now, I can see strips of black and white lines in the background of it.
I can no longer download and install anti-virus update from Mcafee.
When I tried to update it, the internet connection will cut off by itself.
Furthermore, real time protection of Ad-aware is also being de-activated by the virus.
I have tried reformat the hard disk but the problem just comes back again.
Should not have installed IE 8. I found that the Mcafee Internet Security bar on IE
sometinmes disappeared when IE 8 is being lauched.
Is there other anyway I can eardicate the virus ? Must I have to buy a new hard-disk to
solve the problem ?
Thanks for any advice.
wtf?
Security aganist websites should had improved.
What is your OS? Do you have firewall installed?
For now, I recommend a reformat(which is the easier but tedious way).
i doubt the virus attack was linked with IE 8.
you could have been infected with conficker if it's recent.
conficker.C is supposed to render every security feature useless. lol, don't even allow u to access security sites.

Reformatted hard-disk already with full reformat (not quick reformat) using Windows XP Professional (SP3) disc.
But when the anti-virus, firewall, internet security software are re-installed (installed without any internet connection to prevent softwares being infected), the virus is already back in the system ! It seems that the virus is being able to avoid being reformatted.

There are already reports in the internet now that IE 8 has already been hacked just days after IE 8 is being released. The below URL link is just one of them.
http://blog.seattlepi.com/microsoft/archives/164680.asp
IE 8 also makes the fonts smaller.
IE 8 mistakenly blocks Adobe Flash Player.
As a result, IE 8 will ask to install on almost every website visit to re-install Adobe Flash Player.
There might be some security loopholes or vulnerability in IE 8 that allow hackers to hack into the internet security softwares and gain control of the computer.
To solve the problem once and for all, I have bought a new hard-disk and re-installed all the softwares, files, data and internet security softwares.
Now, I use firefox 3.08 to surf the net most of the times.

oh definitely, i knew that IE8 was already compromised some time back. lol, imo, IE8 is designed to watch porn =D
this is the report about the good and bad points of IE8.
the privacy browsing leaves no traces of your browsing in the computer system, cookies, info, history, cache whatever, the low tolerance filter, which can be tweaked, will dynamically detect if a website is trying to download a code or smth, like some spyware, they try to find out what are your browsing habits, then they will throw advertisements there etc. when IE 8 detects that, at the lowest tolerance, 3, if that happens 3 times, it will auto block forever.
on the downside of IE 8, it's just released, so since a browser connects to the unsafe web, it's not good to use an untested browser, and it's already hacked, and microsoft was notified. and as usual, their cookie management is horrible. and yeah, the usual, crash 100 times a day.

i've stopped using IE long ago, now using chrome and FF. which i am pretty happy with
chrome already has this. It comes in the form of incognitio window :D

Is there any free software other than the Windows XP Professional disc type of
reformatting the harddisk to clean the harddisk totally ?
I am hoping to clean the virus by using a powerful reformatting software.
Thanks.

a format should do the trick. because you render all information un-usable. even though they are dormant in your hard disk.
if you want to be even more sure, low level your PC, which means you fill up your entire hard disk with bit 0. but that's usually only used to remove data which is still in your hard disk la.
but a total format should do the trick.
either that or you put your hard disk in your microwave, toast for 5 minutes. also can. lol

it's about as effective as setting the disk on fire. kill all the virus =)
it's a joke. you'll spoil the hard disk.
