All i know is that onboard GCs use memory from the RAM sticks while dedicated ones use their own.
Besides tat, does the intensity of graphics tat they are able to display differ a lot?
let's put it this way. for eg you have a dedicated graphics.
that means u are assured of 256mb to run your games. most dedicated graphics allow u to have shared graphics too. so if 256mb is not enough u can expand it - up to a certain amount
for shared graphics, that means, you will have to come out 256mb from your ram. (but it might be lesser or more depending on what is the max of your onboard graphics). this causes strain on the computer.
onboard graphics are usually not suited for gaming, unless u have an integrated ati or nvidia chipset which is of fairly good spec.

Intel graphic is really cmi...
Imagine playing Call of duty 5, left 4 dead, crysis and GTA(the new 1 i forgot) on the integrated graphics

you can, if you have an integrated ati or nividia chipset powerful enough to handle them.

whatever you do. the rule of thumb is, use what others are using. if they use nvdia/ati - follow them.
dont use graphics card like S3 Chrome ect.

ati ftw!
ati coupled with amd processors super hot -_-
doesent matter :D
Me using 9800gtx good anot? The Dedicated is 1GB.
good
oh ok.
The 790 chipset for amd comes with HD3300 onboard graphics
i think not bad for an onboard graphics
however, nothing beats a dedicated graphics like HD4870x2
IM using onboard nvdia. bought 2 gb ram. Hope i can play cz with reasonable resolution XD

i thought the 295 gtx is better ??
i brought the 4870x2 and so far the drawbacks are that it consume tons of voltage..
it emits lots of noise and gets hot easily..i dun have a cooler device
but at least it allows me to play empire total war on full settings.lol.

actually GTX295 isn't really good lar...the GPU clock is slow...only at 576MHz. if u take 2 GTX285 to SLI, it's much better, with lowest 648MHz GPU Clock, and the shader clock is much higher.
So whats the best card? I might buy.
I am currently using ATI Radeon HD 4870. I never use integrated graphics for my desktop computers.
There isnt really a best graphics card since new ones will keep coming in.

SAPPHIRE HD 4870 1G GDDR5 PCI-E
This one is enough to play all the new games out there in the market. If you think it is still not fast enough, you can install 2 with cross-fire enabled.
I might buy 2 since i'm looking for a new mobo.
X3100 GMA can???
