Hi all,
I am planning to recontract my broadband and there's an option to select for a wireless modem which we have to pay more every month for the subsciption. It is the 2-wire modem and the previous one I had was pretty lousy and didn't have good customer support.
What do you guys think of this modem actually? Was it just my luck to get a lousy one previously or is it really that bad?
Would it be better to sign up for the plan without the wireless modem and buy a more reputable brand from outside? Any recommendations if so, and what is the difference (between all the different modem brands like linksys etc.)?
Thanks all!
depends on luck... if you no need higher speed, why don't you just buy the modem itself?
Do you have a need for a wireless modem?

Not a need, just a want so that I can use the internet in my room. Currently the telephone line is only in the living room.
Oh, and we have more than 1 computer which need the internet connection.

I would need to recontract as my current plan is double the price of the one on offer, ceteris paribus.

If you think it's ok. Just sign it.
me using 2-wire de
the speed is quite ok but very waste electricity bill
must turn on the modem for 24h everyday lol
What is the difference between wireless G modems and wireless N modems?
I have decided to buy either a Linksys or a D-Link modem. Anyone can
tell me how do I see which one is better? I have no idea what the specs
mentioned mean. I am using Singnet 3MBPS with 2 laptops and 1 desktop
at home.
The few I had chosen are in the links below, hopefully someone can enlighten me!

to put it simply...G standard is an older IEEE standard(802.11)....N is the newer one.... meaning the theoretical maximum speed that the N standard can support is higher than the G...
802.11G signals can go thru walls already...so if ur house is not super big....U should be fine with it....somemore...802.11N is still generally more expensive than the 802.11G....so why spend more?...and the last I read...802.11N is still in the draft stage...not really finalized yet.
1 more impt thing to think about is ur current wireless adaptor(s)...I believe they are 802.11G compliant but are they 802.11N ready?
