Hi,
when I'm using my laptop, the signal from the wireless router flickers on and off every second. So about every few seconds/minutes I will be disconnected from the internet.
However, I don't think my desktop which is connected to the same modem experiences that.
Is it normal for the signal to be so unstable?
Can singtel solve the problem if I call them? Cause last time I called them but they could do nothing about it.
Thanks for helping.
If u do a direct connection to your lappy, is the connection stable?
a stupid question, are you at the same location or do you move?

Happened to me just that the only solution to mi is i need to change all my phone wiring. Did the tech guy come down and measure the frequency of your line? Did u use micro fliter on every phone?
let me get this straight.
your modem is connected to awireless router.
your laptop connects to the wireless router via wifi.
your computer connects to the wireless router via cable.
I dont get the meaning of flicker.
flickering is common?
sometim some other wireless gadgets like house handfree phone or others are interfering the frequency of your wireless internet network

Hey J.
when u say that the signal flickers, u mean theres a LED light on the router "signal" that flickers on and off? or the strength bar on your laptop's status bar keeps 'having and losing' the signal?
your desktop is connected to the router via cable or wifi?
throw tantrums at the Singtel helpdesk. make them check or send someone to check the houseline/modem/router.
try this: if theres a hardware wifi switch on ur laptop, switch it to off.. restart your lappie, then switch it to on again. if not, disable your wireless connection from your control panel and re-enable it, then try again.
p/s: u tried connecting to other wireless hotspots/locations?

We know you like it raw too...
Ok, from the description, it seems like its your wireless router thats giving the headache. If its still under warranty, try calling the brand's helpdesk. Call anyway even if it isn't. At least they will help you confirm your problem.
If you going ahead and getting a new laptop, it prolly will not solve the problem. I could give you a contact for a possible better deal tho.
i have a simliar prob.. i am using wired modem connecting to my desktop.
Sometimes the internet light on the modem will come on..the DSL light will flicker and then go off too.. a few secs later the reverse of the sequence happens and connection will resume.
Any ideas why this happened? It giving me a lot frustration at times
Starhub LagOnline ftw.
It might lag, but it's almost always online!

hmm, just a question to follow up.
for me right, sometimes my laptop will lose its connection now and then, after i consume high bandwidth or smth, and i have to reboot the router, is that normal?
