i have just install a sata 2 harddisc but when i start the system there is this problem -system cannot detect hard disc but after i restart the system again the hard disc can be detected .how to solve this problem?
does it occur everytime? or only once
futher info needed. when you mean hdd cant be detected, what does it mean?
this problem occur quite offen.what i mean by not detected is when u start you com, system will show your harddisc ,dvd rw etc on which sata port but during that system will hang then show- insert boot media device or press....to restart.
Can't help you.
1st, How many watts is your power supply?
How many Hardisk do you have installed in your system?
Try to clean the sata connections with an eraser, then plug it back again, try restarting your pc a few times to see if it detects

do you know how to go to your bios? - the bios is the screen u see when u switch on your system.
so immediately press pause on your keyboard, then look at the screen for the F-( ) keys for the bios. and press it
then look around and search for hdd check or something that sounds like a hdd check programme.
tell us the results
oh ya, change your boot sequence in the bios too, make your hard disk first to boot.
i installed 2 sata hardisks in my comp too but no problem
i dun remember whether need to config slave n master on this
but still need to go to bios to config which 1 to load 1st
thanxs for the advice.i using 1 hard disc only. i have check the bios setting but still have the same problem b4 i reply in this forum.
just to add, my bios setting for hard disc - primary ide (not detected) sata 1 - harddisc then the LBA/large mode -auto ,DMA mode -auto. do i need to set anything for this 2 setting or leave it as auto?
chances is your new sata 2 harddisc is spoil. when ask for replacement, says that your hard disk is unable to initialize properly.
try switching connecting ports of both HD to MB
btw i using MSI G31M3F mother board. last time i using ide hard disc does not have this problem.
