i use the dv2713tx.
normal use sees the cpu at 50-53C, hard disk at up to 50C and GPU at 60C.
but when playing games, the cpu can heat up to 66C, hard disk at 56C and GPU at 82C (highest record).
problem lies with the lack of ventilation and probably all the heat emitting parts in close proximity within each other.
and the fact that the fan does not stay on MAX at all the time.. it's a variable speed fan which is controlled by the computer itself, without a manual override. and the berth for the fan speed is very loose, so it takes quite a lot of heat before the fan actually starts to rev up.
therefore thats what makes the laptop too hot to be considered for "light" use like word processing, etc.

2. dont install that tv tuner if u dont need it.

Wonder tmr IT show gt laptop cooling pad anot .
My laptop very jia lat one, always overheat. Last time, when i turn on my laptop, it gets very hot. Up till know, it is still hot and if you are in a very quiet and if you were to on my laptop, you can hear the fan spinning very fast.
I understand that jerryonhere. My friends and I used to have this problem too, because it's overheated.
I chanced upon a cooling pad on ebay singapore - One Huge Fan. It's very pleasing to me in terms of the design - Pink pad with blue LED. Aaaa, I think you will take the black pad instead, I guess.
Really efficient to bring down the heat of the laptop a lot. At least, no more Laptop Freeze.
As for heat of pad, so far I never feel any heat from the pad, just the heat from laptop become lesser! hehe.
Hope my post is helpful to you.

Some families, like mine, aren't rich. My laptop is coming out from my bank acc., cos I need it for school. And why 16?
It seems that your graphics card is an 8400M GS, and if so, what games are you playing? I know some games can push the GPU very hot, especially if your GPU is a weaker one. The GPU needs to work harder to let you play your game. I would suggest also lowering the resolution and details of the games you play. It will help. As for things like word processing, try and make new power plans for each task, like Gaming, Browsing/Word processing and such. I set mine to High Perf only when gaming. Other times I set mine to power saver. Then get a good cooling pad, though the brand-name ones always perform well.
@kawa: 1 huge fan doesn't mean its good. Use a temperature monitoring tool to really check the temps. The fan may only be cooling the exterior, which was my friend's case. The exterior quite cool, but you feel the exhaust, bloody hot. Hope you solved the heating problem.
Yours bo Centrino technology of course hot.

hmm... I will consider though I actually found an old cooling pad in my wardrobe and it is still working and it also makes my laptop more cooler. But I still need to check the temperature first.
