  1. You only have 512 or lesser ram
  2. the 512 or lesser ram is being taken up by the adobe flash in the internet explorer, the mcafee site advisor, and other programs

  $50 for reformat, where do you live? I can do it for $30, plus teach you how le. Your CPU is OK but you really need to upgrade your ram (2gb are less than $30) and i suggest you buy a graphic card too.

  So the problem that all of us agree is, you have too little ram. which is probably due to faulty ram. 

  I doubt that your P4 comes with 128mb of ram. hmm, but speaking of which. 96mb of ram makes sense. 

  128mb ram- 32mb shared graphics memory =96mb of ram
