I'm thinking of getting the Lenovo ThinkPad T400
Seems to be the one with the most value for $$$
The rest look like JUNK honestly. Acer and their overheating problems, Fujitsu and their fancy looking expensive crap. And HP not vending for poly road shows anymore
Anyone owns a T400? I would like to know how the onboard speakers are like, since I enjoy blasting music. My current HP notebook comes with altec lansing speakers which i really can't do without!

Wanna know what is truely value for money???
Dv5-1035tx going for $1620 w/o gst last year.... Dang it sia... HP not selling... wonder if they still give student discounts...
Slightly slower processor & lower OS... but best graphic card for the price range...
The OS used will be vista enterprise, and I won't need to say much about vista. I wanna downgrade to XP professional.
Hmm.. so no one has any experience with T400?
First, what course u go? Engineering need Graphic card, toherwise u technical drawing can die...........
If media, Get a MAC.
And looking at ur T400, First Processor. T9550, its a pretty good and normal processor, But Try to get the P series one.FSb is pretty good, Cache is very high also...
Cheap don't mean Good.
And the OS? What course depends on which OS, Vista HOme premuim or enterprise dif application.
Overall its ok. But the Weight stated is probably without battery.
So i recommend you see the Roadshow then go Suntec for The IT Show, Then u can see which one u SERIOUSLY want. =0
And, Don't Downgrade. Ur Programs Will need Vista. Serious. Polytechnics nowadays are using windows Vista, But i dun get it, Vista now pretty stable what.....
U downgrade ur lecturer ask u uppgrade u pay more to do so.
Get Ur laptop with Vista pls. Don't believe those 2 year threads on unstable vista. its repaired now.
Vista has a lot of problems. Even till now. Dun use vista. I am using it now and i telling u that it isnt good. XP is more efficient
a service pack won't fix all flaws.
It's never unstable. But one thing's for sure. at times it will be laggy.
But you need think leh. Polytechnic put Vista as stock OS for a reason. You downgrade i tell you, sure have to upgrade.
But This laptop u use for studying right? XP i know is pretty perfect, but Polytechnic wise, you have to follow no matter what.
Ultimately, check with the IT staff @ RP before taking any futher action.
Yep, agreed. i asked around SP lecturer they told me Vista Is what they are using now. So ibetter stay the same.
on a side note, i do not know which laptop to get for SP too.
Fujitsu or the T400.
Wow, going Sp? me 2. Which Course? Then i maybe can advise you.
lol our year (i second year in SP) need to have XP,instead of vista.
yea lor, heard this year first time vista compatible.
you going what course,if biz then most of the programs SP install for you on vista sure no use one, other then microsoft office.the other courses i not so sure. :/
Uh, Aeronautical Engineering.
Hello, i'm going RP also..
Till now i'm not sure whether to get which laptop, my course will be information technology. I'm thinking should i get the Fujitsu S6520 or the Lenovo T400 ones, can anyone give me advise please. I would also like to say most of my computer pro friends said T400 will be the best inside if i were to play some game like DOTA, L4D(not highly graphic game), but considerating the design, S6520 seems pretty cool while T400 looks pretty plain or like very normal. Give advise please :D Thanks
go for a fuji.
build quality questionable in the T400.

U guys think Lenovo X200 can survive Marine & Offshore Tech(NP)?
thank kenneth, i kinda understand what you mean.. The impact thing right?
i question the build quality. how can plastic flex so easy with a slight force. that means, something must be wrong somewhere.
yea, in a sense it's impact.
