Best way to destroy CDs???

Let's say someone wants to destroy the contents of a large number of cds. One way is to bend them such that they crack into several pieces. But having 50+ cds, it would be a time consuming way. Other ways are: 1. Using penknife to scratch the surfaces of the cd 2. Using a lighter and have a naked flame burning the surfaces of the cd 3. Formating the cds Which way would be a sure way that people would not be able to read the contents of the cds? and the least time consuming way?

Some news report shows that you can also using a large vehicle to crash them, else can use a drilling machine to drill holes through them. But these methods requires equipment.

Like that why not just use a lighter and put all cds under the naked flame? easier mah. -

then how best to dump your used PCs or laptops? Format first then throw? or take out hdd smash with hammer or use magnet?

u must use Eraser (free open source - http://www.heidi.ie/node/6) (mindef uses this too) as formatting does not wipe out your existing data completely even if you resave over the same sector for a few times. then you can safely sell your harddisk to garangguni for a sum of $$$

ur home electric drill n drill holes on all of them... can do few a same time... -
hahah.. the easier way to destory the CD is to run a car over it.. all crack very fast

Put them into a Microwave and set it to 15seconds high.But I only tried it on ONE CD.

Please take note above mention will cost fire or firesparks cos inside the CD there is a layer of metal.. metal when reacte with mircowave frequency will cause firespark or explosion. Do take precaution if you thinking want to do that..

Ya...there were flashes of sparks and poisonous fumes after the CD was destroyed.But you got 15 seconds to run like hell....
