defrag no use... defrag is just reorganising the file n folder...that all...make retrieving and writing of data faster....but not noticeable to our naked eyes....

skeujin,
I hate to see people ends up in this kind of situation which can be easily avoided. 1 suspect could be your network loading(just a wild guess since I can't see your windows), try this to check if true, I assume XP.
1) shutdown & restart windows, don't start any browser or apps, wait for 2 minutes..
2) "Start"->"Run", then type "cmd" to get a dos window
3) type "netstat", you should get something like below, take note the lesser lines the better,
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C:\>netstat
Active Connections
Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP computer_1:1045 localhost:1046 ESTABLISHED
TCP computer_1:1046 localhost:1045 ESTABLISHED

The lines tells how many active network connections you have, yours should be clean, like 4 to 5 "localhost" lines only. If not, there are other "things" that connect to the net by itself. Type "netstat" a few more times to see if the list grows, if so, worst...
Under the process thread of task manager, see which process is taking the bulk of the memory.

I also forget to mention something. If it is malicious cookies, you may try can clean your internet cach.
Forget about doing the defrag part. It is useless.

skeujin,
actually running anti-virus on the same windows has its own problem because the windows itself is infected, the best is to run on another clean windows, that required a multi-boot PC or if you have time, try BartPE.

dude your speaking a foreign language... haha
really... Just trying to help with what I know, hope it's not too technical. I'm a Linux guy but use windows as well, there are other methods but probably won't help you if too much for you
I don't do full virus scan for myself(I never had virus problem), but when I do it for someone else, I always scan from another windows - a lot less complications, you won't see weird stuff after that. Try it.. keep posting till you solve your problem, NEVER re-format.
damn get ubuntu. maybe it will be faster for ur laptop.
Rofl Windows 2000 =)
