These few days my internet connectivity just seems to be so laggy.
Example: When I'm surfing the internet, all of a sudden I can just lose my connection. The Linksys monitor tells me that I 'am connected to the access point, but the internet cannot be found.
Example 2: When I'm playing on my PS3 online with friends, more often than not, I am always the one that is the laggiest (It shows up on the screen my connection speed). And this is all happening even when I am playing against my Malaysian friends with a 1 mbps connection or lower.
And by the way, I have an 11mbps connection. So I am pretty pissed off about the situation. I have tried directly connecting my modem to my PS3 and stuff, but the same thing is still happening. Oh please IT pros, enlighten me on what I should do now. I already have called up starhub but they were not helpful.
the losing of connection quite common. my dad's laptop keep having this problem, while mine works fine.
try rebooting your router once every few days, and keep your laptop drivers up to date?

But mine happens to both my comp and my Ps3. And not to mention that I reboot my router many times already. I always try to reboot whenever i face this problem, but still I face lag everytime.
Argh sorry double post. darn it's my internet connection again!
pfft triple post...

No... The only devices connected to the internet is my comp and ps3. And rarely do I turn on both at the same time.
Ok, the multiple posts are getting on my nerves. The network keeps getting interrupted.

can u check the wireless channel in ur setting?what number is it set to?
sup ! i'm having this prob too ! check my thread !
Go to My Computer.
Right click.
Manage.
Services and Applications.
Services.
Wireless Zero Configuration.
Stop.
multiple posts isnt so much of internet prob at your side..
just that the servers here a sgf cant really handle the traffic at that instant
I kept getting disconnections too and someone told me to do the above and it worked.
It's a hassle to have to do it everytime I log onto the internet but until I find another better solution, I just keep doing it.
if u are using ADSL (singnet or pacnet), you might check the quality of your filter or your house phone (spoiled house phone) could affect your broadband line. That was the case for me when for a few days my internet keep dc-ing. Then i realise one of my house phone spoiled, i replaced it and everything is working fine again.

He's using starhub though.
For sudden loss of internet connection, it can be your cable that causing the problem, if thats the case call someone down from starhub to check it out. If not, the problem lies with either the router or the modem. Pick one.
I have that problem before (though I'm a singnet user), I just changed my router and poof, the problem is solved. Fking MIO router, the only thing I like is the strong signal strength.
For the lag, I don't think anyone can help. One possible answers is there are too many people at your area using starhub, don't forget it's one fat green pipe but shared. If what I said is true, too bad you've got to suck it up and switch provider when your contract ends.
Btw, what you tried opening ports on your router? Some modem have build-in NAT and firewall too, do check it out.

Yea sure I use this tactic on my comp, but what about my ps3?
And if both suffers the same laggy problem that means is the wireless problem liao.

I want to call someone down from Starhub but then like need $$$. Somemore what if it's Starhub problem not my problem? I gotta pay them still?
Let's say it's my modem or router problem... how would I know which one is the one that needs changing? Anyone got any ideas?
yea i used to have this prob when using wireless internet connection, thus i switched to using ethernet modem instead. i suppose this is due to your weak connection thus it keeps disconnecting.

i recommend u get a dlink xxxN router if it works with starhub.
monitor closely at the starhub cable modem lights. ensure that all the lights are on.
if the lights goes off or the modem reset itself, that means you gotta replace a new modem.
where got must see com one i use same wireless with mine friend he dc 10+ time le i only dc 1 time lor cause he watch too much RA viedio

Come to think of it, the orange light that is supposed to be blinking a lot on my Motorola modem has been pretty much stagnant these days.
Oh yes, I did try linking direct using ethernet cable but the same problem still persists. I think is my modem problem liao...
I just scared i buy modem already then problem still there, haiz. Then got a big hole in my pocket.
Undersea cables got cut again. So there are lots of lag complain. Funny enough, Singnet was never affected. Or at least I'm proud to say so.
A few days ago. Repair works now being carried out.
i'm using singnet, and i'm affected badly
didn't read the news no wonder internet so lagg these few days.
Not reported in local news as far as I'm aware of. It was a friend who told me about it on MSN that I knew of this issue.
I think it's our MY neighbours who first noticed such issues as they suddenly lose connections to various international sites.
