As above, how much would a DIY PC, which the below main specs cost?
Intel core 2 duo 2.4GHz
1 GB
Shader model 3.0, NVIDIA 7600, ATI X1600 or better
if u include the casing, the mobo and such, shdnt be more than a thousand.

confirm + chop way less than 1k...
i have a feeling it'd cost around 600-700... depending on the brand of gpu, casing and mobo. but since this doesnt look like a serious rig, i'd reccommend you get anything thats cheapest and suit your needs. anyway, i believe there are mobo with integrated 7600 gpu. just add more ram and you are save more. rams are dirt cheap.

Hmm, is ASUS P5SD2 Mobo good? For graphics wise, I've done a search and found NVIDIA 8400GS PCI-Express 3D Graphic Card. Any idea if it's good? Sorry I'm kinda noob and 1st time trying to purchase a DIY.
If you are planning on using the same parts till the pc stop working, that motherboard isn't a problem. The 7600 and 8400 are not very new cards, but for normal games will be fine. However for the new GTA4 or crysis , they wont work very fast.
THat P5SD2 supports from celeron to core 2 duo, but not the core 2 quads.
And when you are choosing the processor and Mobo, especially for newer graphic cards, your motherboard(mobo) need to have the:
"PCI EXPRESS 2.0 X16" not just "PCI EXPRESS X16" slot
The Difference between them is the amount of data that the motherboard can take in through the slot. This can be easily find out in searching the mobo's model in a search engine.
THe mobo must be also able to support higher fsb rams if you are thinking of upgrading next time.
If you are only going to use 1 graphic card, there is no need to buy those with "crossfire ready" boards
For under a thousand dollars, you might have a chance to get something good if you customise properly.
If i were you, i will spend my thousand dollars like the following, price from http://bellsystems.com.sg
MSI P45 Neo3 FR + E8400(core 2 duo) = $440
2GB kingston ddr2 valueram 800mhz=$28
Seagate 500gb HDD=$90
HIS 4850 ICEQ4 (is a cooling feature)= $289
Coolermaster Extreme power 550watts = $89
LG DVD drive = $33
Maybe $100 for case
Total around $1069
Very good alredy, however, i will increase my budget by $33, and get a Quadcore Q6600
The cooling feature seems expensive though. So from what you've said, with $1102 I can get the high end specs you mentioned above? Oh by the way, I don't see a graphic card above though.

the HIS 4850 ICEQ4 is a graphic card with cooling feature.
Oh. What's the video memory?

The set up is not exactly 'highend', becos u can still go further
The graphics card is "HIS 4850 ICEQ4"
The graphic card can been seen here:http://www.hisdigital.com/un/product2-29.shtml
Shader model is 4.1, full spec on the website

Hmm, but can I also play GTA 4 with that specs you recommended? What problems will I experience?
Originally posted by fifteen:Hmm, but can I also play GTA 4 with that specs you recommended? What problems will I experience?
i dun think that you will have a problem of playing GTA4, just that you will experience some lags..i am thinking of playing GTA4 on a 8GB ram + GTX280 PC...
GTX280 is a graphic card?

yep.
Hmm, can build into the specs MyPillowTalks recommended? The Quad Core.
Originally posted by fifteen:Hmm, but can I also play GTA 4 with that specs you recommended? What problems will I experience?
Maybe just some lag here and there, i am not sure
As long as you dont set ur resolution of the game to the maximum, the anti aliasing, those filter to the maximum, you wont be that lag

Well, the Nvidia gtx280 is meant for nvidia chipset, if you put it in, i believe it will work, but the p45 is an intel chipset, for putting two ati graphics card.
That means if you put 2 gtx in that motherboard, it wont work.
Thanks MyPillowTalks for the tips. Is ATI graphics card better than Nvidia since can put 2.

not just that. the latest Intel chipsets which are earlier than X58 support ATI CrossFireX technology. the X58 chipsets support both Crossfire and SLI. it depends on one to tell which company's graphic card is better.
Hmm, so what are the full system specs do you recommend nenepokey?

this might be hard to say, cuz i myself like to customise a high end but in a budget PC. i will show my spec that i am rigging out here later on.
