When I put the VCD disc B of Police Story Four into the dvd drive, I heard a loud crack sound. Immediately, I shut down the computer and open the disc drive with a screw driver.
It is so ridiculous. The whole disc breaks into pieces and I have to clear away all the pieces.
When I put mount the dvd drive back to the computer, the dvd light appears for a while and then the tray automatically opens up. When I push back the tray, it opens up again automatically.
My LG DVD recorder is gone liao.

Your VCD may have had microcracks.

I remember some scratched discs can crack when put inside a CD drive. Doesn't apply to all, but just some.

I think you did not position the cd properly in the tray, and when the motor moved up to feed into the spin hole, all hell broke loose.

the VCD is mostly of lower quality. usually its very difficult to break or bent the VCD.
next thing is your DVD drive. maybe you forgot to connect back all the wires. or there is still something stuck inside. good luck.

I bought the Jackie Chan's Police Story IV VCD in a sale in a VCD shop a few days ago.
I bought it for $3 and it was most likely that the VCD was of low quality.
So, the VCD broke into pieces in my DVD drive when I played the VCD in the drive.
It is really ridiculous.

The delicacy of the compact disc when compacted by the disc reading drive disintegrates into confetti due to the displacement of the disc coming into contact with coaster.
